Are Realistic Toys too Scary?

Desiree Duffie Desiree Duffie
So I brought a couple realistic toys to my interview on Sheena Metal last night. I was surprised that Sheena was shocked by them! I mean, Sheena used to work on Howard Stern!!

I brought some Penthouse Pet Products: Justine Joli's CyberSkin Foot Job Stroker and The Laura Doone That 70's Pet Hairy Pussy.

Sheena was kinda freaked out by the toys. They were a little too realistic looking for her. I guess I've been in the business too long and nothing shocks me anymore. So I'm wondering, is there a point when a sex toy becomes creepy if it is too realistic? Are realistic toys better than non-realistic toys? Do men like realistic toys more than women?

If you wanna listen to the show check out Sheena Metal on link

I do not think that realistic prosthetics are creepy (as sometimes, they're not use used for masturbation or simple partner play). I feel that it depends on the situation, whether realistic toys are better than non-realistic.

The Laura Doone toy is really awesome! I think that one might be a little scary to people, because being that hairy is not really in style (from a mainstream point of view at least). I also think a lot of people may react harshly, but then really want to check it out too. Different strokes for different strokers

For me it depends on the toy. I usually don't like realistic toys, but am greatly attracted to the Tantus vamp because while realistic, it also incorporates a bit of fantasy. If there are ball however, it's a no go for me.

I've owned a few realistic toys and I still have two. I don't find them creepy in the least. I don't know if I'd say they're better than non-realistic toys, but I often use them because they are so realistic. There's this one item that is a realistic foot with a slit in the bottom to mimic a vagina and while I find it odd looking, I do understand the appeal for feet lovers.

I wonder if it breaks along gender lines? Men, who tend to be more visual (total generalization, i know) may prefer the realistic look while women are attracted to the pretty colors and shiny curves of less realistic toys.

I like both, as long as the realistic toy is well done, but generally I end up with the pretty, shiny, sparkly stuff.

I like the realistic shape, but non-realistic color. My husband is all for getting a real realistic one (color and all), and I'm holding out. There's something about them that freaks me out We'll see, if I ever try one, if it's not as freaky as it seems anymore.

When I first started getting interested in sex toys, realistic toys were scary to me. But now that I've been into toys for a while, I really like them.

That hairy pussy reminds me of a walrus, for real. I don't know if I'd call either toy creepy, per se, but absolutely hideous? Yes.

I just saw a really good picture of the Foot Job Stroker toy, and it looks awesome! I don't really have a foot fetish, but I think feet can be cute... however that toy is just so different, that it is appealing.

Thanks! I assume that most of this stuff only makes me laugh while I am writing it!

Realistic toys can be ok, but I've found that a lot of manufacturers go overboard with the veins, ridges and balls thing... that can get a little "yuk" sometimes. Perhaps I'm more impressed with "semi-realistic"

That's how I am. I love the semi-realistics, but full on realistics not so much.

I think it's like the uncanny valley. We're not able to make super-super-realistic things yet, but we're able to get just close enough to be REALLY creepy. So semi-realistic dildos [like fun factory's curve and the njoy eleven] are okay, because they're obviously NOT real penises. The realistic stuff is close, but just far enough way to be not-quite-right.

I don't mind realistic toys, in shape or in color. What I find unattractive (and occasionally creepy) are the toys that take realism, and then push it past the bounds of reality.

Veins that are too thick and numerous and blue to possibly be real are creepy; veins that make you wonder for a second, if you touch them will you feel a pulse, are good. Ridges that look like they were molded off of a gorgeously perfect cock are sexy; ridges that look like you molded them, expanded the ridged area by a factor of two, then grafted it back on, are strange. Balls that look like the skin would ripple and fold if you fondled them are nice; balls that look like a crumpled paper wad or worse yet, like they're pock-marked are terrifying.

Bottom line: if it actually looks realistic, realistic can be sexy. To me, if you take realistic characteristics and emphasize them out of the bounds of reality, they're unattractive and possibly creepy.
