Canadian EF Users... Is there any way to avoid custom charges. They are a B!

Well, that's the kicker. I don't even *have* a credit card, so I paid with a prepaid Visa gift card...and of course, I didn't keep the card once I had used it. I've already emailed UPS and basically informed them that I have absolutely no intention of paying the fees twice. I already provided them with payment, and I will *not* pay again. Yes, it was a small amount, but that's not even the point. The point is: they were already paid, and they're not getting any more money out of me. I have yet to hear back from them but I'm sure they'll have something to say about it. They can say whatever they like; they can go screw someone else, because they're not getting anything else from me.

This happened to me too! I was so unimpressed. I called them and said WTF, and they looked it up in their system and confirmed that I had already paid. I don't know what kind of communication goes on within that company, but it's absolutely ridiculous. Why wouldn't their system update the records or something once payment happens? I also would love another shipping option.

Oh gosh, I hope I don't run into this problem. I haven't checked my mail at my old apartment (I'll probably go tomorrow), and that is where anything from past orders would be since we recently moved. UPS is a pain in the arse. I'd like to third the idea of another shipping option!

Hello everyone. We've been following this thread for a while, I'm sorry you had so many issues with UPS. I'm happy to inform you that we're bringing USPS on-board as our shipping provider for Canadian orders. We sent and monitored some test shipments with USPS and saw no issues or delays. With USPS you will also get rid of the brokerage fee, which, as you know, can be quite hefty.

I have only one thing to say to this:

Oh, and maybe this:

THANK YOU!! <3

Will this be something that will be happening relatively soon? I'm hoping to make a new order in the near future and I'd love to not have to deal with UPS. *L*

I'm very happy to hear that! I had an order shipped by USPS in December (which must have been one of your tests.) It was so much more convenient for me to be able to go to the post office down the street to get my package instead of having to take an hour bus ride to the next city to get it from the UPS center.

I've noticed that a couple products I had on backorder are back in stock - is there any chance I could have them shipped USPS rather than UPS when they get sent out? Since that shipping happens automatically and I don't get a chance to choose any shipment options for backorder things

I got a shipping email today for one of the items and it says UPS, unfortunately.

oh no! I'm going to place an order tomorrow, and I hope it doesn't go through UPS. Maybe I'll shoot an email or add it to the notes section. Did you add a note telling them to send it via USPS?

With backorder items they just ship automatically as soon as the item comes back into stock, so there was no chance to say anything

Oh Ok. I hope you don't have to deal with any bs when it arrives!

Just so I'm clear on this, does that mean I won't pay anything when I have orders show up now? I mean, after I have paid for shipping of course, does USPS charge additional costs at the door? I remember once I used my points, about $70+ dollars worth, paid shipping and then UPS showed up and said I owed around $75 so I felt like I wasted my points lol. Does it help to maybe not place large orders all at once or no?

USPS hands packages over to Canada Post, so you won't pay any brokerage fees. For packages over $20 you'll have to pay taxes + $8.50 but it's hit or miss. I believe if it's sent via USPS Air you won't pay any fees..I receive a lot of package via USPS Air and have never had to pay. USPS Air is cheaper but it take a little longer to arrive, I hope that will be one of the USPS options for us...Either way I'll be happy w/ anything besides UPS. HTH

Hmm...I hope USPS Air will eventually be an option, it would be nice to have a cheaper option through USPS, too. But like you, I'll be happy with anything that isn't UPS!

Why? UPS has a vested interest in leaving things as they are. If one person in ten pays the fee a second time then they're still making money off the "accidents".

Good to hear that EF is going with USPS. They don't have any of these sneaky tactics - you pay upfront.

Anyone know when USPS will be added and how much it's going to cost?

Well this just made my day Up until now I have been spending most of my points on my friends on here that are in the US (not that I won't still do that) but it's good to know that I can now work on saving up points to do a bunch of buy out assignments thanks so much for the helpful response and clearing it up for me!

Okay, stupid question. Up until now everything I've ordered has always been sent UPS. Anything I've gotten from Canada post has been review items so there was no charge.

When you say "For packages over $20 you'll have to pay taxes + $8.50" does that mean that I'll pay whatever in taxes plus 8.50 every time no matter the cost of the items. Or does the 8.50 go in a sliding scale based on the price of the package?

Yup, that's correct it doesn't change it stays $8.50 I think itt use to be $5 though, but I think after the strike it increased to $8.50

But it's hit or miss and I find that most of my packages over $20 slide by without the tax + $8.50. I believe if it's marked as gift you won't have to pay anything at all if it's under $60.
