Items going out of stock...

Contributor: SMichelle SMichelle
So, I just placed a very large order -- three of the items that I purchased are now showing up as "out of stock".

They WERE marked as "in stock" when I ordered them, hence why I was able to add them to my cart and purchase them in the first place.

The last time that this happened (items I ordered going out of stock right after I placed an order), the items ended up being backordered. Now..this worries me because one of the items that was backordered from my last purchase is STILL out of stock a month later. I don't want to have to wait months for my items that I've paid for because the site showed them as being in stock. I apologize if I sound a bit harsh here, I just don't think that it's fair to have to wait that long for something that's already been paid for.

Anyway, I'm just wondering..has anyone had this happen and actually ended up receiving the items? I'm hoping that I just got lucky and got the last ones, but I've a feeling the items are going to be on back order again.

Yes. I just ordered two lingerie tops this weekend and I ended up getting the last one of each in my size and they arrived today. I've noticed a couple other times when I purchase something that it then is out of stock right away, but I have always received my items and never had to wait.

I hope this time you just got the last ones so you get your stuff as expected .

Oh nooo! That sounds awful. Sounds like you may need to submit a ticket. I've never had that happen. What a total bummer though!

There is more to worry about in other sections at Eden Fantasys. I have learned that EF is phasing out their erotica book section too.

Since I have written reviews on a couple, I have discovered that some new books which they carried, and published in 2012, have been discontinued. The books which still remain in their stock, will not be reordered. I think that will be very sad.

I feel your pain. I agree with submitting a ticket. It is probably your best bet. I doubt Eden wants to inconvenience you. I was super bummed to find out that they got rid of their DVD stock after the last upgrade. Very annoyed.

Wait, seriously? Damn. Time to grab all the erotica while I still can!

Yes this has happened to me. Actually, just recently it happened when I ordered 50 Shades of Grey. Actually, it didn't even go out of stock after I had placed my order so I find it odd that now I have to wait. I hate waiting lol.

My partner ordered something awhile back and just recently received a refund because a dvd he ordered was "back ordered" and he had waited about 4 months and finally said he didn't want to wait any longer.

I can see a short wait (2 weeks or so) but anything longer is not really acceptable in my opinion.

In this instance, even a short wait would be an inconvenience. I'm going out of town in 13 days and was hoping to have all of these items for my trip. If they were out of stock, I wish that the system would've told me before it allowed me to purchase them simply because I would've bought something else if I had known. I really wanted some new, sexy lingerie items to surprise my lover with. There is always the option of canceling the purchase if they are, in fact, backordered but last time getting my backordered items (and the gift card refund) cancelled was a bit of a hassle, honestly. Quite frankly, I don't think I have time to have that done, and then new items shipped out, before I leave for my trip.

As for my first backordered item, I ended up cancelling that though it's still showing up as "in process" in my order history. Very strange. Still, going to the product page daily for the pair of cuffs that I had ordered -- they've been out of stock for a month. That's far too long.

I don't mean to complain, but it really seems like Eden is having difficulty keeping things in stock these days. Out of my wishlist 36 items are out of stock, and many of these items have been out of stock for several weeks. I know that this is likely to have more to do with the manufacturers filling their orders properly and promptly, but..still.

It is frustrating, almost along the lines of overbooking on airlines and showing up to find you have no seat. But, what is Eden supposed to do? Inventory changes quickly?

I don't know what the solution is -- just that having items on backorder for a month (or more -- which I've heard of happening in several cases) is frankly unacceptable.

If things are out of stock, they shouldn't be appearing as in stock. I'm not sure what the solution is for cases when the stock is low, and one purchase depletes the stock, but.. Well, other shops that I frequent seem to have a way of setting up the cart so that it tells you how much is in stock, and when a purchase is made, changes are automatically made to the "in stock" information. There have been times that I've tried to order the last one on other websites, only to get a message saying "we're sorry, this item is out of stock" before it even allows me to pay. Surely there is something that Eden could do, technology wise, that would be similar to that. I just think that there needs to be an option to have something back ordered, or to..not.. before any money even changes hand.

Sorry about the inconvenience you're experiencing.

Maybe in the Eden monthly community meeting where we suggest changes that we'd like to see, you could mention what you just said right above about being able to see how many are in stock and if you go to order then get a we're sorry message.

I have experienced ordering an item and then it being back ordered. My experience was that EF does not charge your card until the item ships. The nice part is that they do not charge you any additional shipping and will send it as soon as it is avaliable. I still have one item on back order. One time an item on backorder took a long time and EF send me a support ticket and cancelled the item. If you are worried about an item arriving while you are out of town, or don't want it anymore you have 3 options. You can start a support ticket as suggested, or you can click on the help icon next to your profile icon, or simply call customer service. I have done all 3 at various times, so I can say they all work! EF wants you to be happy and satisfied!

Part of the issue is that the system does not reflect current inventory and probably lags by a day. So even though an item was out of stock, the system didn't recognize this at the time you placed your order. Availability is dependent on the manufacturer and in some cases it can take months (NobEssence, for example) and EF has no control over it. If you are unwilling to wait, I would suggest contacting CS and having them cancel the items that are out of stock.

Say what? Where'd you hear this? If it's true, I'll be so disappointed.

I agree that we should be able to have a counter on products that state exactly how many items are in stock. We also should have a notification about "this toy just got ordered for restock" and be able to request the tracking number.
