On Item Page: Send as Gift?

Contributor: Rhazya Rhazya
I've been AWOL since November, so I don't know how new that option is.. or if it was there before and I never noticed it.

Does this mean that with my public wishlist, that anyone on here could potentially just send me a gift out of the blue? If so, are they able to send it anonymously, like Secret Santa

I just find it strange, like suddenly I'm going to get a package from this random strange who saw my wishlist. I don't feel the need to make my wishlist private. No one (as far as I know) actually knows me in real life on here.

Not saying I'm amiss to it, as I'm not made of money, just strikes me as odd.

Do people actually just gift random people? I'm assuming it's just for people that do know each other though.

Yes, if that item is listed in your public wishlists, your screen name will show up as one of the people who want it.

I don't know if it's random, but usually we knew each other well enough to send each other things ... birthdays, get well, just because - that sort of thing. If you gift someone, they won't see your address or real name, just as you won't see their address or real name even though you gifted them.

Points can be used for this, as you are spending your points and not giving your points to anyone.

It works in the same fashion as secret santa. I've read reviews before that they received this item from a contributor for their b-day so yes it does happen.

I'm one of those that send at least one random gift a month. I just sent one to js250 because it's her birthday and she was my secret Santa shopper, so I wanted to do something special for her. Last month it was BadAss and Dynamic Kitty. I have sent out numbers of random gifts because I get so many points anyway why not spend a $20 on someone else.

It's set up so we can have the option to send you a gift. No one gets access to anything other than showing you want this item. It's a cool feature that comes in handy. They can't send it completely anonymously because when you get the email about the order it will tell you who sent you the item under the billing address. Though it only says:

Billing Address:

Beck
Cleveland, Ohio

That is all it will show the person you sent the item too in the email about the order.

As Chili said you can use your points to purchase gifts for others.

I think that would be really cool to get a surprise gift or even to gift one.

That's a very generous use of your points.
