I've seen lots of contributors with stuff like "use usm for 15% off" and though i see no motive behind it, i can't help but wonder, are these codes real? Do they expire? What is there motivation for sharing it with the public?
They are affiliate codes. Everyone has one attached to their account. If you get a friend to use the code, they get 15% off, and the affiliate makes 5%.

Ahh, so how do i find out my code? Or do i have to do some long sign up process
You have to sign up to the affiliate program to get a code, it doesn't just automatically appear. You have to give over your social security information for 1099 purposes and such. But, that information is private and only used for tax purposes.
Anyway, those codes are generated by the system and are totally legit and come in handy when you're short on cash!

it's affiliate codes - not fake one bit. i have one. I use my blog though when i make orders, the affiliate gets 20% commission for every sale who is based from using the banner on blog. if u use code u the customer gets 15% off and the affiliate gets 5% commission.
