Canadian and paying for it?

Today I received my monthly EF review item. I'm a Canadian resident and can happily report that I have never had to pay any fees on my received items before.However, this all changed today when UPS serve me with a UPS brokerage C.O.D. of $43.17, and told me I could not have my package unless I paid them this fee. Since when did this happen?! Is this new? Is it permanent? Has any other Canadians been served the C.O.D fee?

You should call UPS. That doesn't sound right. C.O.D. is cash on delivery and there isn't a company in America that I can think of that still allows this. Now, it may have been taxes and duties and that's not something EF has control over, but they are trying to figure out ways to reduce to costs to Canadian customers.

I just spoke to UPS, they said that if it goes on ground there will be a cost of $30 something for anything valued over 10 dollars if it goes by air, which the merchant pays for then there will be no COD fee. So, they're saying this is EF's fault.

Oh it's time to raise holy hell! Contact one of the wonderful customer service people, either via LiveChat or phone and ask them what their side of the story is. I seriously doubt that's the case and I feel really bad for you.

Yes, the link the above poster posted is from my thread. We were recently charged too, but had never been before. It also looks like my review order that is on it's way had went through customs as well, so we'll have to fork out some more money which really bits the big one lol..Ours also cost around $40something, how interesting! It's not a huge deal if it happens to us every so often, because no one can avoid customs forever, but if it's every single time we review or make a purchase, then I'm not sure what we'll do (continue reviewing or not)

I just placed an order today and I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about how this issue is going to play out. Plus, my prizes from the Halloween contest shipped today, too - if I have to pay a fee on that stuff I'm not going to be very happy! Hopefully my stuff will ship by air (as usual?) so I'll avoid the issues FaerieLove ran into and everything will go as smoothly as before.

Like sktb0007, I don't think I could afford to review any more if I get hit with customs fees or such every time.

This happened with my package too, UPS guy came here demanding 44.50! told him to take it back since I had no way to pay for it (UPS only accepts cheques or credit cards and I have neither) so now have to wait another 2 weeks before it gets back to EF and they either reship it without COD or refund me which would mean I'd have to pay another chunk of change for shipping...I was really excited about getting my new Tenga and Fleshlight :'(

If any of these orders have been assignments, please let me know off-thread and I'll see what I can do about canceling them (since they'll be returned).

I don't want anyone thinking they have to do a review for something they couldn't receive! We'll get through this together!
