Top 50 Scariest Horror Movies of All Time (according to Boston.com)

10. The Ring (2002)

09. Alien (1979)

08. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

07. ... more
Never saw that. I'd vote of the ones I saw though to be Halloween.

Not really. I don't find Jaws, Alien and the Ring that scary. I definitely think your picks should have been higher up on the list. The Omen at 34? Come on.
Right?

Speaking of The Exorcist, if the prices were inflated to today’s rates, this would be the top grossing (and grossest) R-rated movie of all time; “Entertainment Weekly” and “Maxim” voted The Exoricist as the scariest movie of all time.

I would definitely have The Exorcist in the Top 10, it scared me s***less the first time I saw it, and that was in college. Also would have The Shining in the Top 10.

I think I was more freaked out by the visual imagery in The Ring, not the actual plot.

I cried the first time I saw the Exorcist. Knowing my husband is Catholic did not make matters any easier to digest. I was 19.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that! I was in my early teens the first time I saw it.

I've shamefully never seen the Exorcist. It's on my list, though.

The Exorcist as #1 I can agree with. Nothing ever made quite as disturbing of an impression as little Linda Blair stabbing herself in the crotch with a cross.

I agree. The Shining scared me the first time I watched it at 13. Thought I'd be a badass and watch it at 20. Still scary.

As was I, I couldn't sleep without watching something obnoxiously cheery before bed for months.

I had a blond, talking doll that looked like Chucky. I kept it in the bottom of my closet.

It's okay. I just didn't realize how graphic it was and I kind of believe in some of that stuff so I was like HOLY SHITBALLS!

The exorsist was just messed up.. But if it was an adult rather than a child it would have lost something.

And, if we're on The Shining. It based on the Stephen King book freaked me out a lot, too.

The actress who played Sally in It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Kathy Steinberg had almost all of her lines finished and recorded when the actress’s mother called the studio to inform the producers her daughter’s tooth had come loose. Thinking a lisp would ruin the quality of the dialogue, they immediately rushed her in so she could finish her lines. As she spoke the final line, the tooth flew out of her mouth.
How’s that for timing?

The first paranormal activity. Or this is a blockbuster, but have any of you seen the toothfairy? That's one messed up movie.
