I will confess to wearing grungy clothing quite a bit in the early 90's. I was considered quite the freak in this little town for doing so. "They" were all wearing Sebago's while I wore my Doc Martin's.
The Grunge Seattle look. I remember I didn't wash my hair for around 5 or 6 days because all my friends kept telling me how cool it was. Dying my hair black and red and allowing another friend to shave underneath. We all loved the Smashing Pumpkins. But it was a great era for indie and progressive rock, that's for damn sure.
Yea for the X-files, too. I'd still do Mulder... One of the first indecent pictures I ever saw on the internet was of him (but a coffee cup covered the goods) LOL

I agree, when I think of the 90's I think the Seattle scene, and then the birth of Alternative like the Smashing Pumpkins, Janes Addiction, Local H and how that moved into more pop oriented Oasis, Better than Ezra, and Soul Asylum. All of this along side the birth of the internet, dialup connections, and classic sitcoms. It was a fun time for sure.
because of a (strange) obsession lately with bad music, I currently think early 90's club music - like Mr. Vain, Scatman...etc when I think of 90's music.
Although seeing "Hootie and the Blowfish" listed cracked me right up.
Hell yes! I'm actually rocking my Downward Spiral tee right this very moment, haha.
I'm still a freak for (almost) everything '90s. My black armoire is still coated in hundreds of magazine cut-outs of the late Cobain and related grunge memorabilia, I have a ton of Nightmare Before Christmas stuff displayed in my bedroom, I own approximately 40 My Little Ponies that I doubt I'll ever part with, I still dye my hair with koolaid from time to time, and I continue to wear more plaid than anyone else I know.
In contrast, I'm so glad I didn't experience as much of the 80's, hahaha. Although, I did love my Care Bears and Rainbow Brite dolls, and wouldn't part with them for anything either... ;D

My Little Pony!! That was my absolute favorite thing when I was little. I never missed an episode. lol!
I had the long hair, flannels, vans, carpenter jeans. I didn't discover Nirvana until the day of Kirk's death. It was also the decade of the CD. Remember when you had to look for a computer that HAD a CD drive? Imagine how things would've been different with just a thumb drive!?!?! Computers with 4MG Hard drives...floppy floppies...Word vs. Works. The horrid birth of the Reality Show genre with Road Rules and Real World...
Headbangers ball was the only cool thing on MTV (well that and Beavis and Butthead), and that whole Seattle grunge thing just took over. I still hate most of that stuff... although if it were not for that whole scene, the Melvins would probably never have gotten to put out so many great albums.

AND Wipers' albums probably wouldn't be available pressed anywhere today if they weren't cited by Nirvana as an influence. I suppose we have to count our blessings.
Xena....ER....REM..... .and the Stevie Nicks style clothing I wore for drag contests at Boneshakers. Meeting lots of cool indie musicians in Athens Georgia when I fronted The Prophecy(grunge was in but we were goths).
You forgot Biggie (I am from Cali and his death was MASSIVE)!
@Gary ~ OMG my husband JUST quoted that show a few days ago...I was sure I was going to pass out because I was laughing so hard. Great, I may need to get the movie just because I can.
SMP ~ hubby and I were talking about how the girl at the checkout of the store was WAY too young (gasp...I'm only 26) because she didn't know what it was...just so you know Sex, money, power and in THAT store she should have known what it was...we still have the stupid window decal on the car.

And Green Day, and Weezer, and keychains on back packs, and Rocko's Modern Life, and, and, and man I miss the 90s! I do love my fancy, new millennium gadgets, though.
