Changes and negativety

Contributor: Lioncub Lioncub
I get that there are a lot of changes going on here, and while I too am disappointed with some of them I don't understand all the negativety. Give them a chance to roll everything out and see how it actually plays out. At least we are getting notice that things are coming, not just logging in one day and poof everything is different.

We are all adults, I don't think we need to threaten to leave because we can't get free assignments or because lingerie will no longer be available for free assignments. These sound like things kids would be upset over. Eden is more the generous with what they already give us.

For example if you place a $70.00 order (which can include the 30% buyout, where you are already saving money, plus the sale prices most of the time) you can get wipes (4.99 value) or a bag (2.00 value) for free if you choose. There is also the free gift with $70 order which I believe right now is the Enchanted Crystal which has a $27.00 value and because your order is over $59 you get free expedited shipping (I think only in the US) which has a value of 15.00 I think.

Basically you spend $70.00 and if you take advantage of the free options you can get another $47.00 worth of free things. Not many places that I shop are that generous.

They are asking for our input which is another great benefit of this community but some of the comments I have seen go above and beyond.

If you are really that upset with the proposed changes then perhaps this community is no longer right for you and instead of threatening to leave you should just leave.

Or as my great grandmother would say don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.

Thank you for posting what I'm sure a lot of us are thinking. The negativity is driving me crazy! Talk about being ungrateful. Aside from placing orders (which is always optional) we don't pay anything to be apart of the Eden community and the points program. I can't believe some people are so angry and feel so entitled. Eden doesn't owe us anything, they're extremely generous and had to make changes to protect their business from abuse.

I haven't seen any negativity. I've been seeing suggestions or confusion. I do agree that EF has been generous. first & foremost everyone needs to keep in mind is that EF is an online retailer. retailers are in business to make a profit. if EF needs to change how they do business to make a profit, that's good business practice. and anything that the community gets is a great perk that EF doesn't "have to" give us. I'm more than grateful for any perk I can benefit from in any way possible. and I thank you EF for all the perks I've already received.

I also haven't read any negativity. I guess I just stay away from that. I felt a little upset, but I got over it. I was just mostly upset that it had to change so soon after I just got started with everything. Obviously, the changes needed to be made and I'm glad and thankful we are left with the options we are left with.

people in general don't like change. there's always going to be some complaining. I don't care for some of them but hey it's not my business so whatever's good for them is what they should do I suppose.

You're right, that was a great article! I thought it too funny that she ended with "Not cool", ha ha ha!

I haven't seen much negativity, but there was more turmoil over the points change than there is over the review change discussions. As much as I agree with your sentiments, Lioncub, I don't think it was that bad & it looks like things have calmed down. We've been invited via the posts by admin, to join in on the discussions about the changes & there will always be complainers as Moxers said. In all, I found only a few who were really complaining versus most who were just asking questions. Everyone was invited to the dialog, after all, so their opinions are not out of place.

Great stuff, Lioncub, and a great article Stormy!

I agree, I think before we pass judgment on any of the changes, we should at least wait and find out what all the changes are going to be. Passing judgment, or getting upset, or panicking or freaking out is simply pointless before you even know all the details of a matter.

And even once we find out the entirety of all the changes, there's still no need to be negative or complain or make a scene. Eden will be whatever it is going to be... those who don't like it can go elsewhere, any fanfare/drama is really uncalled for. And those who are fine with it can stay here and keep participating. Life really isn't all that complicated sometimes, especially online.

I agree whole-heartedly!! I have seen a lot of juvenile comments and other things grow out of the announcements and am tired of the negative comments. If you are not happy--leave. Good luck finding other cites as generous and friendly to join.

Wonderful post!!
Thank you very much for voicing what a lot of us have been thinking!!

Personally, I'm surprised and proud of our community for bringing so little negativity to the most recent changes. I was expecting a small earthquake and, instead, our community has shown itself to be understanding, thoughtful, full of ideas and quite wise.

There will always be some unhappiness when there is change. It's inevitable, since we're naturally inclined to like things to stay the same. But, all in all...

I'm proud of you guys!

I agree with the sentiments Lioncub expressed. As an employee (omg, it'll be 4 years in May, almost 6 since I started reviewing!!!!!!!) I rarely speak up on stuff like this but this is definitely a company that is generous to it's community. Amazing that I've gotten to be a part of it.

I also agree with the rest of you and am so glad everyone has been participating in the announcement posts. Negative and positive feedback are both appreciated and it's amazing that y'all have been able to give both without any sign at all of that earthquake I was expecting.

I was also pleasantly surprised. I don't always get my free assignment, I probably only get 9 a year, but I did enjoy them a lot. I think that everyone was also having problems finding things to review (or rather, that they WANTED to review) so this system seems like a nice change.

I have not seen the negativity. Being a counselor, I know it is human nature to resist change especially when there are a lot of changes all at once. As the changes are implemented, things will level out. I am sure most of the changes will be great and people will get used to them.

To be honest, it's nice to hear that maybe there isn't as much negativity as I thought. I have been avoiding the hot topics (other than to read the initial announcement), because at least for me, negativity breeds more negativity. So I just choose to stay away!

I admit, I miss being able to earn as many points as before. But the points I earn are still good. I have no complaints about the changes.

For some reason, I've been missing all this negativity I keep reading about. I must not be coming across where it's happening at, but I think people are just scared right now. They're worried, that's all. I think anyways. Like I said, I haven't seen the nature of the negative comments, but I think it's just people are scared.

I have a form of OCD. I don't like change typically. There was one change to the site that did upset me a bit, but only because it prevented me from being able to surprise a friend with a gift (the using points for gift cards) but I got over it, and would never leave the site for something like that.

Yeah, some of the changes I am on the fence about, there are some things I don't necessarily like, but I also think that once everything is in place, it will be an improvement to help both the site, and members. I will need some time to get used to it, because as I said, I'm not one who typically likes change in my routine, but I know it will work out and I wouldn't leave the site over it or complain. Suggestions are always great to give, and I know that if I voice my opinion, Eden admins WILL read and consider it, even if they don't follow it, so that makes me happy in itself. Now how could anyone leave a site where your opinion is at least taken into consideration?! Look at facebook...they make their changes and don't care to even hear out the members, yet people stay on there (for the most part...some do leave but as a whole, they don't).

Well fine if they want to leave Eden and be party poopers, more inventory in stock for me *blows raspberries*

I've been pleasantly surprised about how quickly a lot of the negativity died down, and how constructive everyone is being giving suggestions on the threads requesting them.

I've seen the comments you're talking about, though, and I agree. Thanks for posting this!
