Overall, I prefer reviews by someone of the same sex. I just become annoyed by a guy telling me a woman, how I should feel using a toy. But...I have reviewed masturbation sleeves, w/o having a cock but from observation so I contradict myself.
I read somewhere that initially toys were all designed by men but now,women are very much part of the process.

This. The majority of what I read are generally written by women, but I look at the product not the sex of the person writing the review.

There are quite a few guys and couples who I follow on here, who write extremely useful reviews that I enjoy reading just because they are well written.

I also know what particular reviewers to look for when I want certain specs on certain toys, male or female.

It depends on the product and the honesty of the reviewer. It is great to get both perspectives since men and women tend to notice different functions or lack therof on products.

The reviewer's gender does not matter to me for things I am buying 100% for myself. It matters a great deal however for any toy I would consider buying for my spouse or for us to share; in which case I would give more weight to reviews written by women.

Additionally....I know there are what appears to be couples writing reviews together. I think that is a great idea as it covers both viewpoints.

Generally I prefer same-sex reviews because I'm usually buying toys with my use in mind. Unless I'm getting a couples toy or a toy for my boyfriend, then I'd prefer either or a man's opinion.

As long as the writer makes clear whether it is personal experience or their partner's experience that forms the basis for the review it does not matter. For instance, I have read some very good reviews of male masturbators written by women, and likewise some very good reviews of vibrators written by men.

To me, it depends on the toy, a lot of the time.

If it is something meant for me, I love to get a woman's point of view, and vice versa for something meant for him. If it is for both of us, it doesn't matter.

I also will read a review for a toy for me written by a man too, as long as I still have a woman's point of view on it as well, and same goes for the toys for him.

I agree, depends on what you looking for. Same sex reviews help for male related toys as would think would be the same for female related toys...
