Gift cards in the mail

Rockin' Rockin'
I love that we have gift cards now. I can see the need for them to be sent out as physical cards if people want to give them to someone else. For people who get gift cards to use themselves, is there a way to credit our account or email the gift card number? I don't know why cards are always mailed. I don't know if this has been discussed or explained elsewhere, and it's not a problem per se, but I figure if EF can save on time/packaging and just send an email, why not?

I totally agree. I feel bad recycling all that paper that could have gone to someone else as a gift. I would love just an e-mail card.

Agreed. Save time, money on postage, and be greener.

Or even have the option to have the e-giftcard emailed to a friend.

Especially considering the boxes they are sometimes sent in

I have to agree. It'd save on shipping for you guys, and people who want them could get them faster. Or, if you wanted to, do it like Amazon.com does, and they give gift card buyers three options:

1) Get the code right away through e-mail.
2) Be able to get the code and print it out on some pretty "paper" giftcards you can give to someone.
3) Have a nice, professional giftcard mailed to you.

I also agree that having choices such as these would be a very good idea

I think this is a really good idea and will forward it on up the ladder for consideration.

Yay! I was hoping it'd stay bumped up enough to get some admin-attention ^_^

Totally agree, especially as I'd like to send some out to Australia, but it's a bit of a waste of time and energy to do so considering you could just get sent the code instead.

Oops the code via email is what I meant, that wasn't very clear!

Yay!. I'd love to have virtual codes. Glad to hear it's being considered.

I was kinda surprised to hear EF didn't have virtual gift cards.
Cheaper, easier to manage (i think), and easy to pass it on...i likes

I actually asked Carrie Ann about this like a week ago. It didn't occur to me to post about it here. I really need to get into the habit of doing that. lol I'm in agreement that virtual gift cards are a great idea. Thanks, Rockin', for getting this idea out there!

You're quite welcome, Naughty Eliot ^_^

Part of me can't help but think that there's some good reason(s) EF's doing gift card stuff the way it is now. I'd really like to know what factors influenced the decision to offer physical cards instead of or in addition to virtual ones.

This is a great idea. I know American Express offers this option and when you're tight on time this is a lifesaver.

Reviving an old post. I too want a virtual gift card. Has there been any progress made in this realm?
