How do you keep them straight?

Contributor: Lioncub Lioncub
How do you keep all your toys straight? I don't mean like in a storage way, but so you know what you have. As we have reached and surpassed the 100 mark I find that there are some that get used less and less. I have a recently started a spreadsheet for all of our toys but don't know the names of all of them and some have been discontinued so I can't find a picture to go with them. What do you do?

I keep a list on my blog. I used to have a spreadsheet too, but that got to be double work. Now I have a spreadsheet I track orders on, so it sorta functions as a list of items. It's really more so I can see what I have versus what I've reviewed. The main list I go off of is on my blog.

I have a photographic memory, so it is really easy for me to remember. Our toys get littered all over the house due to having 2 reviewers who also take toys to BDSM parties. Luckily we have no kids and very open minded friends.

Just make a wishlist of "items you have" or whatever and add the items that you own to the wishlist. Spreadsheets sound like way too much work for me. I just keep a wishlist because all I have to do is click a button and the item goes into the list. Also, if the item becomes discontinued, it stays on the list so it's easily track-able.

That's what we do, I have a wish list of items we own. I'm also pretty in good in that I have a good memory as well and remember most of what we have and what we haven't used in awhile.

I'm slowing getting them listed to a wish list. With 4 kids in the house they have to stay locked up and it sometimes gets easier to grab what's on top than to dig through to find something new. I'm visual so a picture reminds me how it looked...and felt so I'll go digging. Haven't duplicated yet, but some look close enough that I'm scared I will and my luck it will be one I didn't care for when I actually got it.

Everything I buy I review on my blog, so the index page has a list of them all categorised by type.

The problem I have is actually finding them physically. The ones I use infrequently are all in plain brown shipping boxes in my cupboards. I really should label them.

if we dont use something, it needs to go. But most of the toys we have get used at least once a month.

I do the same thing. I keep a wishlist with the items I have or have had. There are a few things not on eden, but not many so I can keep track easy enough.

If you ordered them all from here you could take the time to go through your orders if you wanted to and find the items that you're missing the name.

When in doubt I check previous orders but I pretty much know what all I have right off the top of my head before ordering.

I don't use a system, which is probably why it takes me awhile to find something specific. In a perfect world, I'd have an apothecary cabinet with each type of toy in its own drawer.

I just started my "obtained" wishlist today. lol Some of my items were already discontinued, but I've had them for years. It's so simple. As my collection expands, I plan on writing the names on the ziploc bags. Until then, I know what everything is.
