Expanding to non-English Speakers?

Contributor: KnK KnK
I remember seeing a post awhile back about a non-English forum , but I was wondering if it would be too far out of the question for the site to expand to people who speak languages besides English. Like having a Spanish version of the site, and reviews in Spanish or other languages, etc.

I know for a fact that we have some people for whom English is not their first language, and technically, EF could get a lot more business if it expanded to non-English speakers, or at the very least if it could accommodate to people who don't know English very well, or for those who do not feel comfortable communicating in English.

I'm not pushing, but I'm curious about the possibility. I know we also have Spanish sex-instructional books and it seems weird to see a book in Spanish with a review in English.

How does everyone else feel about this idea? I understand if maybe it's not practical now, but perhaps in the future...who knows?

Actually.... Next to the Mobile text link on the very very top right of product pages, there IS a spanish option.

While I don't think that it's out of the realm of possibilities, it means that EF would have to hire employees proficient in these languages to monitor the forums and edit reviews.

Ah, I had no idea that there was a Spanish portion of the site. It's not very blatant.

I was just wondering because I'm fluent in Spanish and would love having an opportunity to talk to other spanish speakers on here. EF is already sexy, now imagine that sexyness in Spanish.

Why don't you try to expand on that? Maybe start a Spanish specific topic thread, or even a Spanish themed club of some sort.

Honestly, I've moderated on sites which have tried Spanish and French language portions. There was very little interest and it ended up costing much more than it brought in. There are thousands, millions of Spanish speaking sites and many Spanish speakers tend to prefer those.

I have to be totally honest. I don't see it as being extremely helpful. My opinion could be wrong, but I think what Eden already has (and isn't by many Spanish speaking people at all) is probably enough.

Mileage and all that.

That might be a good start.

@PGell: I understand what you're saying, but I think it'd be something that could be useful in the future.

I don't believe it would be in Edens best interest to start different languages due to cost and personel unless Eden makes sites to those different countries. The language in America is English and should be promoted here. I have nothing against immigration, but my grand parents were from Sweden and they had to read, write and speak the language here. They immigrated. Let's help others to do the same.
