More customizable settings for alerts

Contributor: Valyn Valyn
As I've been posting stuff on the forums, I keep making new alerts for every topic I reply to. It would be kinda nice to have some sort of auto alert setting for topics I reply to. For topics with polls, I don't always want an alert for a new post, though.

Maybe more options in the alert settings area would be cool.

I second the notion! I have only just started playing around with alerts but I would like to be alerted automatically to any new post in a forum I've written in.

Actually.. writing about forum stuff here.. I'd like to be able to see what contributors are posting where. Like a side bar in my profile showing my recent activity, maybe. Or, if I want to hide that, I can.

Heck, it'd be cool to have an "online now" feature so that people that are online can chat with each other (while still floating around the site).

Sorry if I'm getting a little crazy, here, but I keep thinking up new stuff.

This would be nice. It took me about a week to figure it out. I'd post something, wait for a response, wouldn't get an alert, then I'd go by the forums and there'd be a response. Many a WTF?! was muttered before I noticed the Set Alerts feature on an individual thread. Which I still forget to set sometimes...

Well, most forums don't really work like that. A central alert might be nice but I would definitely need the option to turn it off.

Right, I think that's why it took a while for me to figure it out. Other boards I am on are done with the central alert, which can then be disabled for individual threads, such as polls, where you do not want the follow up.

See I meant -that- isn't normal. I've always had to enable threads specifically but in a control panel which EF doesn't have. A central alert should be disabled by default, otherwise I'd get dozens of e-mails everyday.

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding.
