I'm sure there will be others to follow behind me, but I can share with you what I know. A friend of mine had both nipples pierced, she has two children, and both were breastfed after the piercings healed (she'd had them for years before she decided to get pregnant). She experienced some additional irritation from the suckling, but the piercings were not in place while she was feeding. She would remove them first.

I don't know if there's an increased risk of infection for baby or mom if the piercings aren't properly cleaned, it stands to reason there would be though.

As for the pain, I think it depends on your tolerance for those kinds of things. My tattoos didn't hurt nearly as bad as I'd heard others complain they would.

I've had my nipples pierced for almost 8 years now. I've had most likely every piercing you can think of *over 20..including dermals* , and the nipples hurt the most....well after the tongue. the tongue was the worst. Anyways, the sensation actually feels the same to me. With breastfeeding, I've never had a child, so personally I wouldn't know. My sister had hers done and after having a child, she had to take them out to breastfeed. She didn't have any problems.
