Every time the liberator wedge (black) gets in stock it goes out of stock within a few days! its frustrating to track (even with notifications) because purchases kinda take some planning (funding wise).

I think it would be nice to order a product when it is already out of stock (as opposed to back ordered on accident) and just know that when it does get back in stock it gets sent because you already purchased it. I see how having things get back ordered unknowingly would get frustrating but I cannot keep track of when something comes back into stock. I'd love to pay for it and have it get shipped when possible..


This would also help Eden know HOW MANY to buy at a given restocking period, if they have 50 ordered already then they can place and order or 75 so they can fill the current demand and then have a stock to sell before they run out again.

Thoughts anyone?

I think the potential problem with pre-ordering is that some items that go out of stock become discontinued and never come back in stock again. And some items stay out of stock for months at a time (/waves fist at Nobessence!)

However, there is a way to circumvent the problem. Purchases made through wishlists do not take in stock/out of stock status into account, as I learned during the holidays. You can order an item off of a wishlist as a gift even if it is out of stock. You can not buy off of your own wishlist, but you could create an account for your partner and buy it for him/her off their wishlist.

Nice work around, but is EF ok with our doing that?

Kindred is full of ideas that I had no idea about. Thank you Kindred for the details.

Petite Valentine- EF allows a couple to have seperate accounts but they can not abuse the accounts. They can't transfer points across each account, they can't only create an account just to get points, they can't write duplicate reviews of the same product, etc. It needs to be legitimate account. As far as what Kindred is suggesting on ordering products, I don't know what their stance is there and am curious to find out.

You can also just create an alert for the item and when it comes back in stock, EF will notify you via email and you can just place the order then.

It's possible...but not really recommended. You don't want to get your hopes up on a product and pre-order it, only to find out it's discontinued forever and have to mess with getting a refund.

Things may change in the future, but we'll see.

BBW has a great idea too: setting alerts!

This is a great idea Nkev! Sometimes, it happens that some item arrives but at the same time some other item gets out of stock - this is a big problem when making international orders (where you make rather bigger orders to spare some money on shipping etc.).

So you have my vote for this sort of pre-ordering system (at least for items that are expected to be in production)! Cool.
