I have a comment about the shipping date calculator. When you're placing an order, the shipping date calculator page has an "order until" column. Like this:

shipping date order until Delivery Date
USPS Priority Tomorrow, Jan 28 1:30pm EST Saturday, Jan 30
UPS Ground Tomorrow, Jan 28 3:00pm EST Thursday, Feb 4
etc...

I just wanted to say that I find that column to be confusing. I placed my lovely Valentine's coupon order (Yeah!) in the evening, but I stared at the calculator result for quite a while wondering whether the fact that I'm ordering after the 'order until' deadline means I should add a day to the delivery estimate. I concluded that the calculator was smart enough to know what time it is and that the delivery dates were correct, but I still don't know why there is an 'order until' column.

I forgot that text typed here becomes html. The columns are smashed together above, but you get the idea.

The "Order Until" is there because it's basically saying "Your package will ship out on this date and arrive to you at this time AS LONG AS you 'order until' this date/time."

This is a big one, and I do not know if anyone mentioned it.

A bigger word count on the Standard template! The only reason why I use Extended lately is because I just cannot fit my review into the Standard!

That seems clear now that you explained it. But the 'order until' column is a different color and only has times, not dates. Maybe there should be an asterisk next to it with an explanation below the table. If I wondered about it, I'm sure others have too.

That would be helpful, I believe. I used to actually wonder what it meant. Maybe a bit more in the title would be better, like "Order Until for Order form to be correct" or something, I do not know.

Actually, while your explanation seems logical, that can't be it. My order was shipped at 7:35 a.m. today, hours before any of the cutoff times in the 'order until' column. So I'm back to a state of complete befuddlement about the purpose of that column.

The two do not have anything to do with one another, I do not believe. Just because it was shipped to you at that time doesn't have anything to do with the cutoff - the cutoff simply says "order until this time and it will be shipped to you on this date." If you order before that time, it can be shipped at any time on the date the delivery calculator states. But if you do not order by that time, the delivery calculator will be incorrect and the shipping date will be changed. I could be wrong, however. I do hope that someone will explain this, like Neuron Geek.

That would mean I could place an order at 4:35pm today (which was the 'order until' time for Next Day UPS) and still receive it tomorrow. I'm 3000 miles away from NJ.

Shipping calculator was intended to provide the following information: shipping and delivery dates based on expected order date and for zip code.

We have to enter two input fields: order date (the date when you would like to place an order) and zip code.

Order date in future

Let's choose the order date: 04/05/2010 and zip code: 10001

The delivery date calculator will return:

Shipping Service - Shipping Date - Order until - Delivery Date

USPS Priority - Monday, Apr 05 - 9:00am EST - Wednesday, Apr 07
UPS Ground - Monday, Apr 05 - 9:00am EST - Monday, Apr 12
UPS 2nd Day - Monday, Apr 05 - 4:45pm EST - Wednesday, Apr 07
UPS Next Day - Monday, Apr 05 - 4:45pm EST - Tuesday, Apr 06

In the case above if I placed order on 04/05/2010 before 9:00am EST, my order with USPS Priority will be shipped on Monday, Apr 05 and delivered on Wednesday, Apr 07.

So, the column "Order until" means that you if you place an order before time in "Order Until" on "Order Date" we will ship it on specified "Shipping Date" and it will be delivered on specified "Delivery Date".

Order date is today

There is slight different behavior if you enter Today’s date as order date, in this case:

1. If you place an order before cut off time ("Order until") - shipping date will show "Today" (and order will be shipped today).

2. If you place an order after cut off time ("Order until") - shipping date will show "Tomorrow" or next business day (and order will be shipped tomorrow or next business day).

Please let me know if you still have questions.

Thanks for laying this out so clearly! It took me a while to figure this out myself, but it's a really useful feature!

You were right all along, Sir. I'll never doubt you again. And I'm glad I wasn't the only one with questions about this.

My order actually did leave EF around 4:45pm and arrived on the other coast the next day. So the ship confirm email is really a boxed-and-ready-to-shi p confirmation.

Maybe I show my age that I'm still dazzled by new-fangled technology (UPS) that can actually deliver a package across the country in 24 hours.

Now get off my lawn!

I'd like to see some sort of notification when we're logged in and have new messages. Sometimes I will get an e-mail, delete it and log in but get distracted by the forums or something.. and there's nothing which tells me I have messages

Is there a way when replying to a message in the personal messaging system to see the message that you're replying to? I've had to bring the other message up in a different tab to keep track of what all I'm trying to reply to.

Thanks!

I always open a second tab. Good suggestion!

Exactly! Like facebook, that doesn't email you when you comment on your own stuff. It confuses me sometimes because I don't always get the emails right away. I've gotten an email telling me I have one new comment and when I go to check the review it turns out I've actually got like, 3 and I'll see one more notice from those other two. Mildly frustrating, but it would be really nice to not get emails when I comment on my own reviews.

I'm not sure if this falls under Neuron Geek's umbrella of control, but still wanted to suggest it.

Ever notice the "Expert Help" button at the top of the page? Ever used it? I never have, simply because there was never anyone online when I needed the help. It would be really useful to be able to chat with someone who could help with all kinds of different stuff, like toy choosing and care and learning the review or affiliate program, etc. It might cut down on the "OMG I want to buy my first vibrator/dildo but have no idea where to start" threads, too. (nothing against them, but for a complete newbie, the flood of info we send back can be overwhelming) We could have select users from the community participate, either on a schedule or as a loose "if you happen to be at your computer, sign on so people can bounce questions at you".

How about a way to search the forums for a particular topic?

I've noticed lately that I've had 6 or 7 extra tabs open just so I can stand a chance at finding some of the topics I've posted in and shoot a reply back. It'd be really neat if I could just search for the title or something like that.

We do have Sammi on there 5 nights a week, until midnight. And we have tried having community members on, but this feature is a little more complicated than it seems.

Not everyone has diverse product knowledge, and not everyone would sign on to take these on late at night for free. I have done them, as has Carrie Ann, and we can tell you - they are time consuming. Many take 10 minutes or more each because people are lax to get to telling you exactly what they are looking for, or they just want to chat. We do have the send a 'message' option, I get those daily via email and I answer them. As do the others listed in Expert Help. So, these people do get answers.

Expert Help has been discussed many times, we're still working on ways we might change this.

We would love for people to better utilize the search filters - they cover every material, measurement, function, price, rating and even color; combined with reviews, they really cover it.

I also think the forum helps - lots of people answer at their convenience and give great advice.

But you know us, we're always improving.

Already exists! That search bar at the top of this page, with the little pink word "Go" next to it, is the forum search bar. You can search by any keyword and it will bring all of the forum threads up that match. Try it

This same bar can be used on shopping pages for finding products.

The search results have tabs so you can search anything from any page as long as you click the appropriate tab (just to clarify, it sounded like you had to be on the forum page to search the forums, not true!)

Good to know! I haven't tried to use it for a while, because I can mostly find what I need by now. It sounds like you're already on top of this. I agree, actually using the search filters would really help people find what they're looking for. I never surf EF without them anymore!

Well thank you

I knew I could use it for finding products, but I honestly had no idea I could use it for the forums as well. Thank you very much Victoria

Oh my gosh, some take an hour or more.

I get a lot of folks who want to chat about their sex lives and I feel rude just logging off on them.
