#EdenUpdate - Expectations of Conduct

I know Stormy already addressed this, but I would like to add something. Yes, if you are suspicious of abusive behavior and want to report it, (obviously you wont have hard evidence) but at least be able to explain to us why this is suspicious. The more information we have, the easier it is for us to investigate.

As far as your claim about people having extra accounts to vote on their reviews, I am sure you are right. Because people only notice the out of place negative activities of multiple accounts, it is a lot harder to detect these. However, once we begin to investigate these situation, it will become very obvious to use what is going on.

Commenting on reviews is actually a little tricky. If it was written well, and you do not have any questions about the product, what else do you say? It would be great if every review could spark a great discussion, but honestly, the two reviews that are most likely to have longer comments are: a review on a hot new product, or a bad review. In both cases there is a lot to say, or ask.

On another forum I'm on, you're able to quote multiple posts to a thread in one comment. It's really convenient because then you can reply to numerous people/comments without having to post a zillion times. It'd be really nice if we could do that here as well. Basically there was a little button at the bottom of each post (where the flag button is located right now) and it says "quote". I don't know how easy it is to implement that but it would be a nice addition.

I agree. I see a lot more lengthy comments on reviews that lack pertinent information.

I think the fact that there are so many responses speaks to the fact that these stanards are necessary. Too bad we didn't learn these back in kindergarten where we probably all taught the basics of human interaction. Thanks for the reminders--much of it carries over into everyday life.

Apologies if this has been asked/answered already, I just don't have the ability right now to read through all 6 pages of posts here.

I'm supremely glad to see the Points Farming aspect. Truly, little else has annoyed me so very greatly than the conduct that has been occurring because of the Points. The useless profile comments (I get one daily it seems, whereas I used to get one monthly), the useless forum posts and of course review comments.

My question is: How do we report it? I know that this community is huge and I can't expect that there are enough mods to catch every PF activity.

As a new person joining the forums/site, this information was super helpful. I think it creates a safe means of communication and expression for everyone while clerly outlining rules and expectations. Great work!

I'm pretty new to EF but have experience in other online communities. I really appreciate the work you guys are putting into this to improve EF. I think you guys have great ideas for dealing with problems, and I like that you give users the benefit of the doubt. I played an online game several years ago that did not have that philosophy, and would not give a warning before banning you. Their support team was totally non-responsive if you tried to state your case. Eventually I stopped playing because of these issues.

The one thing that drives me nuts reading this thread is, IP addresses are not the end-all solution to tracking multiple accounts! I won't go into further detail lest I help anyone commit any misdeeds.

To clarify:

1. There is an option on flagging to choose "violates EOC". Would you prefer we not use this when reporting points-farming?

2. I really hate the "Thanks!" on reviews and "Following!" on walls. It is, to me, point-farming. Does admin see it the same way I do? Or would it be a nuisance to report those and get *me* suspended?

1. We'd rather people not flag for point farming, because it can be harder to pick out than a person thinks. If someone is obviously farming points and you really want something to be done about it, send the email or send the on-site message.

2. Because so many people are doing it, long term site contributors and new members, it's not really seen as point farming.

If a comment of "following!" is left on someone's wall and flagged as point farming or "good review" on their review, it probably won't be followed up on passed a cursory check in. Now, if they leave a comment like "Nice review!" on a forum thread about a SexIs article, that's point farming.

Hope that helps!

It has been reported. The first time was months ago, the person I reported it to is no longer an Eden employee and I was basically told, "I see nothing proven, there's nothing we can do."

I spoke with a different Admin recently and he is looking into it. I hope he's able to do something.

I mean, when one identity's ONLY activity on the site is voting for ONLY one other identity and the names are similar (and months ago, when I first reported it, the two identities did have the same email addy and there were more identities at that point) it's pretty obvious what is going on.

Honestly, it is kind of sad that as adults, this is all not common knowledge enough and that this needs to be warranted. With that being said, I think it is fantastic!

I think its unfortunate that people do this. It isn't fair to the rest of us. At the same time I am not on here enough to know if people are voting for their own.. I will admit I do not always agree when something is listed as extremely useful. I just don't have the time to cross reference.

Just curious - I have a couple of friends that want to support me in my reviewing learning process and log on to Eden just to read my reviews. I doubt that he reads other reviews at least when it comes to female toy reviews because it's my writing, not the content ( although they are sex toy consumers and have ordered from Eden) that interests them. Is this wrong?

Not at all. As long as they aren't downvoting anyone else or causing any other sort of issue, it's fine.
