I could actually deliver treats, I don't live that far from EF HQ, but I think most of the people that do so much for us in the community telecommute

I'm so excited that she got suspended. I know that sounds terrible. LOL

Way to uphold the rules and the system! Good to see fitting consequences for inexcusable actions. Hopefully this person will learn now and the forum will be a little easier to go through without all the spam.

I thought the same about this one as well.

Can I ask whether reducing the number of new threads you can earn points for in a day is being considered? This would reduce the motivation of anyone considering spamming in the future.

She has abused the EdenPoints system, ... more
Thanks, Kristi. I'm sure it was difficult to have to do this. The community will benefit as a whole from your and the other Moderator's efforts.

Thank you.

PS. I also think One other "Sugary" poster is probably the same person, too. *sigh*

Thank you all the staff at Eden for the hard work in resolving this.

Nope, unfortunately, we just don't delete posts other than in rare occurrence where they are excessively inflammatory or link spam.
If no one responds to them, they will drop down to the bottom and eventually seemingly "disappear" so not responding to these posters will help the posts be less visible.

I have to agree with this. Why not one discussion or poll a day?

Yeah, especially since they never even check that post again!

I don't think she's the same person, but I agree that she's been spamming the forums a bit as well.

Sorry folks. Not to burst anyone's bubble or anything, but it looks like we have a new (or not-so-new) spammer (read: new alias set up under a brand-new account). It took me several weeks as a newbie on this site to find my way to the forum, so it's not likely that someone who just set up an account would find their way here so quickly and beginning spamming the board with one new discussion after another in a matter of minutes. That "GIRL" stays busy.

UPDATE: This is surreal. It has to be the same person (ahem: "ONE" person, cough, cough). Both aliases (hints to the two aliases contained in apostrophes in my post) are spamming the board right now. This is so amazingly shameless and rude that I am at a loss what to say. What gall. Definitely not a "sweet" thing to do.

Thanks for your work! I've noticed the other "one" too. So much spamming makes it difficult to keep up with many of the good discussions. Again, thanks!

Ha, yeah, I like how you said that "GIRL".

I think it's safe to just call the spammer an individual, because we don't know for sure if they are a "he" or "she".

Sure, I agree. I carefully avoided using "he" or "she" for that reason. I was just making a reference to part of the name that s/he has chosen as a user name to hint about to whom I was referring.

I see that the "one" you are referring to has started a measly 176 discussions in a matter of days while, at the same time, has only made 243 posts - isn't that sweet? Not! I wonder how many of those 176 discussions the "one" looks at each time he/she logs on? Anyone taking bets?

Thanks Kristi and all at EF. This situation was totally out of hand that the Forum was becoming useless to me and undoubtedly to others.
I also was beginning to wonder if she had a life?
Yes, there are other abusers as well. Good job!!

I counted at least 6 comparative discussions, 3 polls, and 8 discussions -- all posted within the space of an hour. All of these were posted by one person whose name has similarities to another spammer . . . And whose "About Me" section on his/her profile is eerily similar . . . And whose style of communication/grammar/ spelling is identical.

Coincidence much?

Interesting how a "new user" can instantaneously figure out how to milk the system for all its worth right off the bat. /sarc

@PassionQT: Yep, we certainly seem to have a lizard that keeps regenerating new "tails"! Great analogy.

@B8trDude: It seems safe to bet that s/he looks at exactly 0 of the posts that s/he started each time s/he logs in because s/he is too busy spamming with new ones and never responds.

@Kristi: Thanks for all of your hard work. I am very sorry that you have to deal with the abuse of EF's good graces. You guys all work hard and we appreciate you. We all just hate seeing the system being taken advantage of like this. (And we know that you all do, too.)

As much as I hate to say it, I feel the solution to this problem is to limit the points for making discussions/polls. I would say that for most of us this would not make much of a difference, but limit those that abuse the system.

Just my thoughts.

I agree. Besides, there are PLENTY of other ways to earn points here. I mean, seriously, there's a gigantor list of things you can do. It's just pitiful that people feel the need to abuse the system.

Then again, I'm terrified of the amount of half assed, not thought out reviews that might appear if that happens. If you think about it, the people who are abusing the system are also doing through reviews.

But, I still agree with you in that the forums need to be limited...at least until people can learn to behave and act as responsible adults as well as community members.

How about limiting who can use the points/cards to the account that "earned" them? If you can only use them on your account then there's no point making multiple accounts to try and go for something big.

The only problem with that is that some couples may have two accounts. One for each partner. So if they wanted to, say put in one big order. I dunno. It's hard because if you limit the forum posting, then they will just start posting more crazy reviews. *sigh*

If it must be done, then either one of two things can be done:

1) Get rid of the points system
2) Limit points to only be gotten by those who do the reviewing, get to advanced was it? And then are part of the community.

I guess a third option is just lowered the worth of the points or lower the actions that give the points.

I'm not in favor of having the points system taken away because, quite frankly, there are those of us out here who aren't abusing the system. Just because a group of people are abusing it shouldn't lead to us being punished in return. It's not fair, to be honest.
