Mentor Program Forum Section

Unless I'm blind today, I didn't see a place to talk about the mentor program.

I'm having so much fun with my first set of two students and wanted to talk about the process since we are all experiencing this for the first time.

Should we create a section in the forums for this? I thought I'd suggest it instead of putting it someplace else and it being created later!

I sadly do not have any students yet.

But, regardless, I saw that Gary had posted something but it was deleted. Perhaps they're waiting.

Hmm perhaps. I have two which is apparently the limit right now. Maybe we can have upgrades for that too once we, as mentors, prove our ability to handle more.

I have completed one class. Or I should say I have had a student complete a class and published a review. I am waiting on the other.

You'll get one soon!

It would be great for us newbies to be able to find out more info on this, I did try to search the site for info and really could find anything. (at the moment didn't have a lot of free time to look further.) But, I don't even know what the process is for even asking someone to be a mentor? Do I ask them on their wall, message them? More information on this would be nice and if it was all in one spot that would be even better. I apologize if I missed it and if someone could give a link that would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you go to your account, there is a clickable link "Mentor Program". If you want tow rite reviews and get better at doing so, while making a friend, and learning the ropes you would apply and pick a mentor. I already have my max of students so I couldn't take you currently, but you could pick another mentor that has similar interests as you. I would look for someone with pegging experience etc.

I know that in your account you can click the "Mentor Program" tab on the left hand side of the screen. It'll open a new section that has two columns to either Join as a Mentor or Join as a Student. You can click the "Join as a Student" selection and it will activate you as a student. I think once you do that you go to the Community News portion of the site and all of the teachers are listed at the bottom of the page. You can click the link underneath the teacher to request to be in their class.

That's what I'm figuring from my own research and playing around with the site at least

Since, I am not high enough to be a mentor yet - I joined as a student. Hey, I'm always willing to learn more about things. I love learning - I'm just not sure how it works, I mean do I just pick someone and then decide on the class or what?

You can choose who you want your mentor to be and I'm not sure how it goes from there. I'd be happy to mentor you

I had read at one point in Gary's former post that you message your review to the teacher and they send it back with feedback and such for editing. That's as much as I got out of it, though!

You pick a mentor and then they will discuss with you what you want to improve on.

Yup. That's how I am conducting my classes. I provide feedback and touch on strong points while complimenting about the great parts. We go back and forth editing until it is the best review possible and then submit to the community for regular voting.

It has been a lot of fun so far . I wish I could have more than two right now!

I don't even think we were supposed to notice yet. Hence the confusion. Gary will clear it all up and explain I'm sure.

Sorry for the confusion everyone!

I just posted the new thread about the Mentor Program. The original post was a little too long and technical so we pulled it down to try to explain things a little better, and to also focus the emphasis more on what the program does.
