Nicknames and Badges: Feedback!

The only question I have is whether or not these will be optional. I don't think for example, every transgender person will want their gender history announced on their profile. I especially think that that particular title will turn many people off, because Frankenfurter is a crossdresser and not transsexual (in spite of the misleading song). Some may think it's great and want to use it, but I'm sure many others wouldn't want to. I have to say, I love the binary joke for "bisexual" though - really nerdy and adorable! I also really love the Marco Polo title; I would happily use that one!

I missed this one, but I agree. Maybe "Peggy Bundy" could just be for pegging, and another title could be for genderbending. A lot of couples with a pretty heteronormative gender dynamic love pegging, and a lot of genderbenders don't peg. I agree the conflation is a little problematic, but can be easily solved just by separating the two things!

There are some that we think will be awarded based on activity, like toy choices for reviews. Anything that is an identifier, like that one, or the binary code one, will be TOTALLY optional.

Easily, and noted! Thanks for that feedback. I liked the name, thought it was funny, but this is one of my eggshell names. We can definitely make it specific to pegging, rather than gender-bending.

That makes a lot of sense, and is comforting to know. Thanks for responding so quickly!

Haha, I actually love Peggy Bundy's character so I'm actually fond of that identifier, too. If you decide to keep it for peggers, I would definitely use it (as I'm a pegger, but not a gender-bender).

You'll notice we made that update on the list! Now it's just for pegging.

I LOVE the title of luxury lolita.

Perhaps we can have the option of displaying a few nicknames and badges on our profiles at one time? That way people can pick out their favourites and customize their profiles however they like!

Totally love the Lady Gag-a one. I'll PROUDLY sport that one, and Taste the Rainbow of course.

For the gendered badges, maybe a genderless version too? Having a badge with an assignation of gender would make my skin crawl.

And for sexuality, maybe something for asexuals? Might sound odd off the bat given the nature of the community, but there are asexuals who masturbate or who are in sexual relationships, and even if only one person in a hundred would use it, it'd be nice to have the option there... I also know that we have a few demisexuals in the community.

I loved them all and spent the time trying to figure out how they would all fit on one badge for those particularly active folks. I can't wait to see all of their titles

I like them (and you get points from me for the Star Wars nods) but what about badges for activity in the forum? One of the great things about this site is the forum.

Thank you, to both suggestions. I agree wholeheartedly on this one.

I didn't see anything for Subs and Doms or Dommes or Slaves. At the moment I can't think of anything...maybe Princess Leigha chained to Jaba the Hut? Something cool for Doms and Dommes. Brain not working at the moment?

I love this idea! But some of the ones I'd probably end up with (specifically "Peggy Bundy" and "Lady Gag-a") don't really appeal to me personally ^^;;

Will we still have the option of writing our own? I like describing myself as straight (but not narrow)---because it's possible to be straight and still have your eyes open and respect and accept everyone's identification! And I'm sure lots of other folks appreciate the freedom to self-describe.

I hope typing our own will still be possible?

Actually, that's a great idea. I was once a member of a forum where we could create our own titles to place under our avatar and screen name (mine was usually 'The Duchess of Tardis').

Cave of the Winds!

I think they're all quite funny. I love the one for 400 reviews!

Ooh, one other thought---Lots of mentors take on students who are already advanced, and devote a good amount of time to it. When you take on a basic student, and they graduate, the mentor gets a gift card, but for an already-advanced student there's not really much compensation aside from 'knowing you did something that benefits your student and the community.'

If these badges are for giving folks a little recognition, I'd say that mentors who take on advanced students deserve recognition! I'm not clever enough to think of a name, though, maybe something like Mentor of Masters or whatever the jedi equivalent of that would be.

Just a few comments:

2. Plastic Casanova - It doesn't work for me, but I don't have a better suggestion.

5. Obi Wan - I'm fine with it, but it does have a gender implied. If sticking with the Star Wars theme, you could instead go with Jedi Knight or Jedi Master. Alternatively, you could go with another common word for teacher such as Shifu or Sensei.

12. Peggy Bundy - I appreciate that you took out the gender bending aspect. However, this one like Obi Wan, implies a gender from the character. Could we use a term that has no gender implied?

Thanks for coming up with all of these. I love the creativity and cleverness.

These are great. I like the strange humor. Only ones that make me cringe are the Star Wars ones. I'm a bit of a geek (but not a space geek.) So, I hear way too much about that stuff already. Otherwise, I'll have to look through again when I have more time & focus, but can't see anything missing. Maybe one for writing excessively long posts, just for me!

I'll second the lack of enthusiasm towards Plastic Casanova. I'll also cop to not having alternative at the ready to suggest, but I promise to keep thinking about it.

I know this might be a little too picky, but does anyone think Sexerest works better than Sexeverest? Maybe it's just me thinking the syllable count is part of the joke.

So how would the optional ones be applied? Can we just check them or are we going to have to spend points to get them? Another site that I am active on link essentially charges people to have the optional badges as a way to motivate people on the site by making you spend "geek gold" which you acquire through adding content to the site, being tipped for the content that you added or by donating funds. I'm not sure I would use the badges or nicknames if it meant that I had to use points to get them. I'd rather have the toy then the moniker if you know what I mean.
