I place one leg usually the right one on a chair or the toilet and insert my plug, it may not be the best way, but it works for me.

Since we play anal a lot, we actually have high quality, waterproof mattress pads on always (I squirt) and have an extra comforter and sheets at the bedside. That way I can relax and never worry about lube, or squirting or anything else. That is where joy comes in. NO worries, no stress in bed. Just enjoy...with all the lube you want.

You know, I failed to actually answer the question in my post. I do actually insert my plugs solo, often. I just hold the sink in the bathroom, raise my leg on the edge of the tub and lube well with a finger and pop it up there. That position works fine for me. Of course, I wear slender plugs anyway, so I never tried to push in a bowling pin type toy.

Depends on the size of the plug. If not that large, just doggie while standing is good enough. I "Pucker Up", (push anus muscle so it opens). Then slide it in.
If using a large plug or you are tight at that time, on your knees, head down and butt way up in the air. Again pucker up for easier insertion. Sometimes two hands are needed. One around to hold and guide and other to push.
After it is settled in, I'll do some simple cleaning down there. There's usually some lube around the anus. Then it's off to enjoyment time ! I use Maximus now. Used to use Liquid Silk and had to put a towel underneath me during insertion.

If you want to do solo anal play, get a dildo with a suction cup, seriously it makes things easier and more fun . And like another poster said, prep your area with something to make cleanup easier. I usually use an old towel.
I found it easier for me to lower myself on to the toy initially instead of trying to stick it in. So that's where the suction cup comes in. I usually get lubed up good, then put the toilet seat down and stick the dildo on top. I then lower myself on it. Once it's in though, then it's easier to do it in whatever position and wherever you like.

"Doggy" style...can control depth better...and more u bend down with your chest...and have your butt up...can control the depth and "line" up down there...but sitting on it is also fun!!!

I have a dildo with a suction cup. In the shower I stick it on the wall and just "back" onto the dildo, I found out by doing it that way I can get the whole length into me, our house has wooden floors so then I just stick it down and lower myself onto the dildo, also nice for deep penetration.

I usually do it in the shower! For my medium size 1.5" plug (I like glass) the plug slips in with just water for lubrication. For my larger 2" plug (again glass) I'll use a bit of conditioner to ease the way - and typically go with the 1.5" plug when I get in, then wash up normally before removing the 1.5" and switching to the 2"
The conditioner rinses off and we're good to go!

I think the best way to go is to choose a position in which you feel most relaxed and which gives you good leverage. For me, the most comfortable position is when I'm laying on my back

Sideways with one leg and knees slightly forward, slide in with adequate lubricant. Then roll on back, go to town. when get tired turn back sideways . Don't forget to clean out first and lay down a towel
