Mostly I prefer thrusting. Sometimes if I'm going for a longer session I'll do some clenching for variety, but in order to come I need thrusting.

Clenching works best for me.

I very rarely thrust while masturbating, it doesn't usually feel good.

What feels really good is leaving whatever I use inside me & sometimes pushing it in a little bit, like a rocking motion, but not pulling it out at all. All I have to do is touch my clit a little & boom! If I don't touch my clit, it takes longer to orgasm, but it happens.

I guess this makes me a clencher masturbater. However, I'm a thruster when an actual penis is involved, go figure.

Both, I guess. I typically need some thrusting action to get close to orgasm, but then once I'm on the edge, I'll usually stop thrusting and just contract my pelvic muscles around the toy. Often I'll also press the toy firmly into my G-spot while squeezing it....although it depends on the toy. Not all toys work well for applying firm, steady G-spot pressure (in fact, a few of my very favourite toys are too soft/flexible to do so). I also have several thrusting vibrators, so with those, I stick with the thrusts all the way through to the end; it's not like I pause right before cumming to turn off the thrusting.
