Voted for my significant other.

He generally won't even finger me while I'm on my period, and most of the time won't have sex with me. It sucks ass, especially since I've been bleeding for um... 6 months off and on now, but at least I've got my little friends to help me out!

I use a Diva Cup, and so we can do oral as we normally would and it's no different than any other time of the month. It's nicer thatn using tampons since there is no string or anything and the cup can't be felt from the outside at all. I'm really sensitive during my period and so my husband loves giving me oral. We'll usually give each other mutual oral to completion when I have it.

It's not really made to leak if the woman is using the right size for her body. The top of the cup is pushing against the walls of the vagina and truly acts like a stopper. When I have my periods, and that I get wet, my wetness is as clear as water.

I've seen pictures. It reminds me of a medicine cup (like at the top of pepto) that is made of silicone with a point at the bottom.

I agree. Although I've never fooled around with anyone with an unusually nasty period (huge thick blood clots, etc) so I suppose I am biased. Blood doesn't scare or bother me at all though. I've noticed quite a few people here say they would perform oral sex only if it was around the clit, which is usually what my girlfriend likes me to do anyways, but I wouldn't be opposed to licking her anywhere else down there if that's what she wanted.

I was honestly pretty surprised as well at the number of people unwilling to "get their red wings".

With a divacup or some other brand of keeper, there is absolutely no leaking and you can receive oral without any cares or worries, even during a heavy day. I don't know why more people don't use them.

I would be very uncomfortable with this. I'm curious about the Diva Cup, but even with that, no. I just don't feel right doing sexual things at that time. My significant other is terrified of blood--he fainted one time when he got cut! He hasn't seen my menstrual blood, but I'm sure he wouldn't care for being very close to it.

I've thought about this, or the Instead (even though My Man doesn't mind at all) but we use penetrative toys during oral sex, so I would be afraid of what the toys would do to the cup. My guess it would get pushed around or even moved out?

Maybe it's because I'm a nurse (but I don't think that's the reason) but I don't get all the "EW, gross" about menstrual blood. Every woman bleeds once a month (well most.) Every woman deals with it. Do people who have the "gross" reaction think "Ew, gross." every time they have to change their pad or their tampon? It's a body fluid, most of it isn't even really all blood, but other fluids. I guess people are grossed out by what they are grossed out by, but I'm just glad My Man couldn't care less what state of my cycle my body is in.

I guess there is no accounting for taste. My periods can last a week or more and neither of us are going to go that long without sex, and in our house sex is FULL sex, oral and all, every time. (I'm not being judgmental at all, just don't get the whole attitude that menstrual blood is "Gross." It's part of you. It's part of being a woman. *shrug*)

I can understand using the Cup, to save on the mess, but I personally don't get the "Ew, gross" reaction.

I've always wondered about the "Ew, gross" reaction too; and until a few months ago I held the same thoughts. But I think part of accepting the blood as a natural part of life is one more step to accepting yourself and others.

Not saying that giving/receiving oral is the best way to introduce yourself to it, but maybe it's time to think about the knee-jerk reaction against blood?

You certainly can like or not like whatever you want, but if you and your partner are already fluid bonded, sex during menstruation is NO MORE "unhygienic" than any other sex at any other time of the month.

I don't think I'd have sex with someone I didn't know well during my period, by My Man and I have been together for decades. He's seen me during childbirth, he's seen my body opened up for surgical births, he's seen me near death, we've engaged in many many sexual activities that some people might label "unhygienic." The two of us been through about as much as most couples have been and then some.

A little blood doesn't bother me or bother him at all.

As I said, you have every right to not like what turns you off. But, it isn't "unhygienic."

SEX is "unhygienic" almost by definition, so take that into account. Again, your mileage may vary.

Same here! My man will lick my clit when I'm on my period if we're in the mood, but he would never go any further than that, nor would I want him to! We don't have vaginal sex while I'm on the rag, so I definitely welcome the clitoral stimulation during that time of the month!
