Blue balls actually do exist. It happens when the penis doesn't ejaculate, so the sperm leave the balls but don't end up making it out of the penis. The penis stays filled with blood, and because it doesn't get the ejaculatory signal to leave the penis, it can end up hurting. The fastest solution is just to masturbate to completion. If you don't, the blood will eventually leave on its own and the pain will go away. Women can also experience a similar ache if they don't experience orgasm as well. Em and Lo like to call it "blue labes".

I have had this happen, often lately. Orgasm has been more difficult since peri-menopause attacked me a few years ago. The problem is, an orgasm would cure the problem, the reason I sometimes have the problem is I can't come.

Very very frustrating. Very painful too. It usually ruins that day or the day after. (I get very snarky and bitchy, too.) Sucks to not have an outlet that works.

So, when I've been bitchy lately, y'all know what's been bothering me.

Yes! I have the same problem now and again! If I do not or cannot orgasm I end up with severe menstrual-like cramps and I swear it even effects my brain. I cannot focus, my short term memory can be affected and I am definitely bitchy!

I prefer the term Blue Walls.

The fun of Peri-menopause. NOBODY told me this was going to happen. I expected the hot flashes and the night sweats and even the slight weight gain, but not the orgasm thing. I also didn't expect it to happen as early as it did. I thought I had an other 10 years or so before this shit started. *sigh*

You aren't kidding! No one told me either. I asked my mother why she didn't tell me, she said she rarely ever had an orgasm during sex and never really masturbated either, so it was nothing that caught her attention. Argh. Nonetheless, why don't our OB/GYNs tell us, and why aren't we educated in school regarding it???

My husband teases me and says he thinks all peri-menopausal/menopa usal women are a little nutty. I tell him he would be too, if his body wouldn't let him have an orgasm, sleep, think, etc. He just keeps threatening to put me in the closet for 10-15 years til it's over. lol! Little does he know, his body will start doing similar things to him too.

Funny - as a teenager, "blue balls" were cited as the reason why I HAD to bring my partner to completion, whereas my orgasm was less important because "girls don't have that problem". Yet I've never actually been with a male who experienced blue balls in my presence, and it turns out women can have the same problem too, eh?

I'm gonna file that blue-balls excuse along with the other adage I heard growing up: that men have to masturbate frequently or else the semen builds up, whereas girls don't need to masturbate as much.
