Is the "are your sexually active box", something you always check off once you've had sex? If you haven't had sex for a long duration of time do you still check it off?

If for a medical form, yes. Once you've had sex, you check off the box even if you have year-long dry spells or longer.

It depends on what your filling out.

I mean sexually active means your having sex currently usually.

If it's for a medical evaluation of my health I would check it off but it's no one's business otherwise.

On a medical form, certainly - no point not disclosing, it can only hurt you if you don't.

On something else.... why are they asking ?

Yeah for medical purposes definitely. Otherwise, it depends on ehow long it's been, and why they're asking.

I don't know. If asked verbally, I'd say "not currently." I guess I would have to check the box on paper work though .

always on medical forms, since I've had sex it means I can have any condition related to sexual activity, not checking it would lead the doctor to make the wrong conclusions

Yeah. like Bex said, you don't want the doctor to think of something else. But if you get asked on a form other then medical...wtf?

I wouldn't check it, as I'd consider myself to be sexually inactive...not a virgin.

That box means having sex currently. I think the "any sexual contact" box that you see sometimes applies to virginity.

I haven't been in this situation since I haven't gone without sex for more than a few months since I started having sex, but I think it would depend on the situation. I might make a note next to it that said "not currently" or something.

I check it for medical reasons. I guess I should just check it if since the last time I've been to the doctor's office I've had sex.

Usually at doctor's offices they've asked "sexually active?" and if you say no, they follow it up with "ever?"

I generally assume "sexually active" to have been within the past year or so.

I would take it to mean currently sexually active, so I wouldn't check it

They want to know if you are currently sexually active. But, if you aren't, you need to tell them you HAVE had sex before & how long ago. ALWAYS ask if you're unsure! The more info they have, the better they can help you! Personally, I've only been asked these questions together: Have you ever been sexually active? Are you currently sexually active? (And the ubiquitous: When was you last period? )

If I don't know how to answer something on a form, I put a question mark next to it & ask before filling it out. I often ask why they need to know!

Oh, yeah, I assumed this was medical questionnaire, at a medical office! Otherwise, I'd leave it blank & later ask why they'd want to know that, then refuse to answer it saying it's none of their business. Just because someone or a form asks, doesn't mean you have to answer! I leave things blank all the time; if they have a problem with it, they'll ask later & we'll discuss it.

My first thought was about people who become "born again virgins" Not my persona; thing, but I believe those people would uncheck the box.
