When you hear your parents having sex behind closed doors...

When you hear your parents having sex behind closed doors, does their noise bother you? We always wait till my son's asleep before having sex, and we try to keep the volume very low, but it's hard to do so when I'm having an orgasm, and I worry whether my teenage son will be bothered by our noise.

I'm not bothered by their noise as long as it's not too loud.

I've never heard my parents having sex, although that is mostly because not long after I was born they stopped even sleeping in the same room.

However, I was witness to a friend of mine after he walked in on his parents. A group of us had been out to dinner and we went back to his house afterwards to watch some tv, and when we got there he went to let them know he brought company over and they were having sex. Didn't even notice him open the door, actually. He shut the door, ran back to the living room, and sat there in shock for a while. We were all around 16 at the time. It was funny for the rest of us, but he was a bit disturbed. So I guess it depends on your son.

I walked IN on my parents having sex once when I was pretty young, but other than that, I've never heard them. My room has always been on the opposite side of the house so it's never been a problem, well, that and I haven't lived with them for about 5 years.

I never heard my parents. Our rooms were on the opposite ends of the house. We've heard my in-laws though. We just turned up the movie we were watching.

Has your son been complaining? Or otherwise, do you sense something in his demeanor that makes you think something may be bothering him on this matter? Just wondering. I used to hear my parents and just thought they were sex fiends It did not really bother me too much tho'

I had, erm, "active" parents...and to be honest I was completely mortified. I had a serious complex about it! Sometimes I would turn on music real loud or stomp around so they knew I was awake.

It still bothers me to think about the actual act, but now that I'm (much) older I do appreciate how much my parents get along!

We're on the other side of the wall! We tried to shield them with the TV on - but my wife and I joke that our son joined the Air Force because he had brain damage from listening to 18 years of sex in the next room!

It's not the bed that's making noise - it's me - I like to verbalize my sensations during orgasms, and it can get a little loud sometimes.

I don't think so - I usually take a peek into his room after we're done and he's still sleeping - maybe I'm worrying over nothing.

Ha, ha! We at least have a bathroom and walk-in closet separating our walls!

I never heard my parents but my bedroom was halfway down the hallway from theirs.

When we got married and bought a house, one of the prerequisites was that the master bedroom (at the very least) didn't have any common walls with the other bedrooms. Same rules applied when years later we moved into our current home.

Thankfully, I only ever heard them when I was about 16 or 17, and they had been going through a lot of rough patches during that time, so I figured it was understandable.
