Ok, when I get my period, it is an absolute bitch. I get really horrible cramps that make it impossible to function for the first two days of my period. I also have a very heavy period, which makes it a total pain in the rear to do much of anything until the last few days of my period, where it lightens up considerably.

[itcalic|However], I have noticed, that when I am on my period, if I have sex or get off, not only do my cramps go away, but my flow becomes considerably lighter. I recall a friend of mine telling me that when he banged his girl, (<.< Derogatory much?), she had this reaction.

I was on birth control at the time, and so never noticed a difference. However, now that I'm not on the birth control anymore, I can see a major difference. I wondered, am I just insanely lucky, or is this more common then I thought?

For me, it is not a myth. Sex during my period makes for nearly non-existent cramps and shaves nearly 3-5 days off the length of it too. (Usually, I have cramps that leave me unable to stand fully upright for a day or two and my period will last 7-9 days without sex, and 4-5 days with sex.)

The magical penis comment made me laugh.

I'm the same. My period is already short so it doesn't really shave any time off, but it definitely helps with the cramps.

I've heard this working for a lot of women, but it's never seemed to do much for me. And the actual act, during my period, is really painful I wish it helped - my periods are awful. Nausea, throwing up, bad cramps, hot flashes... ugh. At least it only lasts 5 days, and the first two are the painful ones.

Damn, I never knew that the first two days sucked for everyone. My friends get bitchy, but have never had the same pain as me. Its kinda nice to know I'm not the only one who can't stand or move due to period pains.

It works for some people and not others. My ex-wife, it didn't matter. My current wife it ends cramps and as you stated the flow is easier to manage.
I have some g/f that always wanted to go at when it was that time of the month. They said sex made the craps go away.

Masturbation during my period isn't an instant cramp cure-all for me, but it does reduce the frequency and severity of cramps considerably. Seems to help my mood, too: my periods aren't usually too painful, but regardless I can get anywhere from slightly bitchy to downright aggressive a few days beforehand. A few orgasms seem to alleviate this (though orgasms do relieve stress, so I suppose that makes sense). The length of my period stays at around six days either way, so no luck shortening it.

I've never noticed a difference personally, though my period's only uncomfortable for the first day. At even at its worst, I can still function pretty well. I just whine a little more than normal. I got off lucky, I guess.

But I have read about how orgasms are good for pain in general, especially relaxing muscles. I guess how well it works depends on how much your muscles cramp up?

Oh yes. Orgasm, particularly the strong orgasms I have when I am having sex with My Man usually relieve my cramps. I even tell him, "We have to get to me before these cramps get out of control." It really works.

This is not so with me. LOL. My flow gets a little worse and depending how hard my boyfriend thrusts, it makes my cramps worse. Maybe you're just one of the lucky ones

Yeah, I learned in a women's health studies class that experiencing an orgasm can help relieve menstrual cramps and help with the flow, because an orgasm is essentially your uterus spasming, which (some may find this gross) helps push more blood out.

I've always had horrible cramps. Periods that typically last 7-10 days, the first 2 days usually filled with cramps so bad I can't move unless I'm bent in half and doped up on painkillers.
I've tried the orgasm thing (out of desperation) a few times. It's always made the cramping worse for me. Ugh. Sex is the same. My husband is too large for me sometimes on a normal day. During my period, I stay far away from the possiblity of that thing hitting my cervix.

Before I got on birth control (Which stopped my periods) I was always really horny, but never noticed a difference in my flow. It's really cool that it does that for some people though. I'll keep it in mind if I have a heavy period when I get them again. xD
