Good question. If you don't mind holding the toy in one of the high-powered G-spot vibes would definitely provide the most stimulation. Another good choice (though again not hands free) is a G-spot dildo or probe (G-force would work) used with a thrusting action.

For hands-free it gets a little more complex. The only toys I've tried that really stay in without any help are the Aneros/Nexus rocker types (though I haven't tried some of the plugs that stimulate the prostate). If he has one of those types and it isn't working you'll probably have to go with handheld. I have been trying to achieve the big O, hands free for about three months now.
