Do you identify with being pansexual more than bisexual?

Pansexuality is a sexual orientation, characterized by the potential for aesthetic attraction, romantic love, or/and sexual desire towards people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex; you are gender-blind and gender is insignificant or irrelevant in determining whether they will be sexually attracted to others.

Of course everyone will have their preferences, just as some prefer blondes, brunettes, or redheads. But no one is discounted as a potential partner based on their sex, gender, or gender expression.

yes! I would say that I am completely pan sexual. I believe that one can have they're preferences(Blonde's Red Heads Dominate Submissive's etc.) but when it comes down to it you love who you love regardless of they're biological make-up or gender identity,.

Yes, I've identified as pan for a while now.

I've never identified as pansexual and some days I just want to say I'm "sexual" and leave it at that.

I wouldn't say that I am gender blind. I think that gender is quite interesting, and the differences between ladies and men, trans and androgynous people are fascinating and alluring. All these variations contribute to attractions I have to people. I wonder if pansexualism can be about attraction to people across gender boundaries rather than regardless of them.

Definitely. I've NEVER had gender enter into it. I love all kinds of sex and all kinds of people. It's the mind you go for, not the body.

I don't see why not. After all, labels are flexible and fluctuating. You find what works for you. It's different better than the term "bi" since that label assumes there are only 2 gender expressions.

I definitely identify as pansexual. For me, it's all about the person as a whole, not just the package they come in.

Definitely! I was identifying as bi only until I heard about pansexuality.

I wouldn't say I was totally "gender blind" but, I think I fall into this category pretty easily, yes. I fall in love with the person as a whole not the gender or body (or any outside features, really though they're nice too). I like to keep an open mind and not limit myself to finding love in just a guy or just a girl.

I am not pansexual.

i can not decide if this fully fits as my own orientation, but i know that i am indeed able to fall in love with whomever i fall in love with.
usually, on interweb profiles, questionares, etc., i tend to just say "bisexual" as it seems to be the most popularly understood as "i'm sort of gay." (that can also get me on another tangent, as i find it annoying i have only three choices when it's a drop-down-menu. so closed-minded and frustrating.)

bisexual always seemed way to closed and that there is only two sexes/genders. and since i do subscribe to the idea that there is six human genders, i would have to say that i am totally pansexual.

I just recently discovered pansexuality as a topic. I have met someone who is pansexual and she has been educating me on what I am still somewhat clueless about. I myself am a hetero male, but I have never had an issue with anyone loving anyone else, I'm just attracted to women and have never been attracted to anything but women. I joke about how lucky I am to be hetero, because if I was attracted to every gender, I would never be able to get any work done for the constant distractions. )

hmmmm that definition does seem like a more accurate label for how I feel the last few years.

Exactly this.

Darling Jen really hit this on the head.

I am, however, often guilty of using bisexual as a shorthand to describe my sexuality when I don't want to bring out the Gender Expression and Fluid Sexuality 101 handbook...

I am so with you. If I use the term "pansexual" I can just see the gears clicking away in a person's brain as they think, almost out loud, "sexually attracted to... pans?" I just want to sigh and push a book into their hands and force them to educate themselves just a little bit.

But some of us are really glad to have had access to the handbook. I have learned more about sexuality in the last 6 months after befriending a pan than I had in the previous 36 years of my life.

That's awesome! It's never, ever too late to learn something new and open your mind to a new way of thinking. Go you! And a pat on the back for the person that helped teach you.

Yes I do. For me it goes beyond sexuality. I even sometimes have a hard time telling the difference between boys & girls I don't know. It takes me a little while to get comfortable calling new people I meet men or women.

I definitely identify as pansexual now that I know what it is. I considered myself bisexual from 7th grade until my freshman year of college when I actually first heard the term pansexual. I would've been identifying as that a lot sooner if I'd known it existed.

YES. Could not phrase it any better than this.
Attraction including and based on gender, not in spite of.

I tried on the title 'pansexual' for a little while. As far as real-life situation goes, it sounds uppity (particularly when you have to explain it first). I also worry about falling in love with an identity more than what that label is meant to imply...

Truth be told I think the term is a bit ridiculous, particularly given what it actually means. I know it's become very common as of late, but the constant misinterpretation is really bothersome to me.

That aside, biology declares it to be impossible.

Well, I'm bisexual, leaning on pan... I don't particularly care about the gender of people, but I haven't had enough experiences to say for sure that gender doesn't really play a role.

Ask me again in a couple of years and I might have a more definite answer.
