It would depend on the person, their body type, the way they act, etc. I mean, I'm a bigger girl and although I may act masculine at times, I DO NOT look good in a sports bra. That's not to say that all big girls are the same way. I just DON'T. It may just be that I haven't found a sports bra that supports me right. No clue.

I think it would look odd to put a regular bra with boxers unless it was very plain and simple. I would say sports bra.
