I know just enough married people to not be completely screwed in attempting to plan my own. But even still, kinda clueless, lol

I'm not really all that 'girly' anyway, so I'm totally clueless! lol. Ours will probably be pretty non-conventional (not that frilly/girly is bad, just that I might actually injure myself wearing big heels, etc, lol).

I've got a place where I'll be having the ceremony and reception. We're just not religious, so there's no point in having a church wedding. We're trying to stay as relatively simple as possible, not just because we're cheap as hell, but also because neither of us are all that extravagant. I've got heels, but I'm also planning on rocking some hi-tops as well, lol

Neither of us are very showy, either.. and I was totally thinking about rocking my hi-tops! Hehe. Congrats on yours as well. But I *am* cheap as hell.. I keep thinking, $200 on flowers, or this other awesome thing I could buy for that much cash?!? Other thing!

Well thank you

I haven't even gotten to flowers yet. I've got the reception hall, the photographer, the dj, and the dress. Besides the groom I thought I was set, but apparently people need flowers and such, I'm just gonna try and make my bouquet. Hobby Lobby isn't that expensive, and if I can make all the bouquets then all I have to pay for from the florist is corsages and boutonnieres

Yes - a friend of mine used the silk flowers from there and said they looked nice.

Boutonniere is such a weird word.

I haven't started planning anything yet, but when I go to get my maid of honor dress, the bride-to-be is helping me look at wedding dresses.. since she's going to be my maid of honor too (well, matron technically). So it's pretty convenient!

It is a weird word, I had to use the spell check to spell it right, lol.

We started planning before we got officially engaged just so that when I did get the ring I could actually answer some questions, and that way we wouldn't have to wait that long

Pretty much all I know is that he's wearing his class A's (fireman). I started looking at stuff when I realized he was to ask soon, but didn't delve too much into it because I didn't want to hype myself up too much in case it took him longer to work up the nerve. Heh.

Congrats on your engagement. As a woman married for going on 29 years now, I wish you much happiness and years and years of joy and passion together.

Mine will be wearing a zoot suit, but it's completely his style, lol.

I actually ended up buying my dress while I was out helping a friend pick out her bridesmaids dresses. Because I am who I am, I had to go look at the wedding dresses, and I had to try one on, and it was the one, and I took it home with me. I never told my boyfriend at the time, he would have FREAKED out, because apparently saying that you were positive you wanted to spend the rest of your life with someone was enough, making plans of any kind was just rushing things unnecessarily, lol.

Thank you A lot of pop culture/sitcoms/etc seem to rag on married life, so hearing something like is always nice!

It fits his personality so well, I swear he was born in the wrong era, lol.

Good luck with your dress shopping and just remember to have fun and enjoy yourself, because finding your wedding dress shouldn't be stressful

Get a good wedding planner who listens to you and can keep you on budget...they are worth their weight in gold!

I don't think mine's going to actually be large enough to need a wedding planner, but if it starts getting out of hand I'll definitely take your advice!

I've gotten just about all the big stuff taken care of I think, and we're staying within our budget so far, but I've definitely got someone in mind for this. Thanks
