So, I am coming to you guys with this plan, so you can help shape it! I want this to be a community effort..
we have decided to help fund charitable giving from the EF community. We would like to have 3 people serve as representatives of this community, and adopt families. 3 reps for Thanksgiving each adopting a family in your area, and 3 for the Christmas holidays each adopting a family in your area.
So.. we will give the initial money for each - like $150 per family, per holiday. the community rep has to find the agency, coordinate, then send us their info - we then send the rep the money and they get to do the shopping and helping the family! And share with all of us about how it's going.
Annnnd to make everyone feel empowered - we have kicked around the idea of matching 50 cents to the dollar of every Eden Point you donate towards the Eden Community Gives Back program!

Oh, I do like the idea of a monthly contributor rumble with a total of 12 winners per year, limiting each winner to winning only once per year. And a yearly contributor rumble with the candidates being the 12 monthly winners?

Well, first we need people to volunteer. Then those volunteers look for "Adopt a family" agencies in your area. You tell us about the agencies, and we make sure it's all legitimate.
We send check or Paypal to the community reps.
The community reps keep us all in the loop, on the forums. Maybe even write about the experience on EdenCafe at the end?

People could cash in their EdenPoints and donate that as money - we'll match every point for .50 - so, if you donate 20.00 in points, it's $10 in cash that goes towards to getting lots of extras for these families.

I love the points idea. I also am without a car or money, and I'm sure there are others in the same situation who would also like to help in some way. Points would be a good way to do that.
