Last year when my theatre group helped out a family, we bought things in bulk off ebay, they had a little girl in a size 9-10.
So we bought clothing in bulk for her, along with a little suitcase-ish ... more
Oh, Ebay's a good idea! I never thought of that!

I do have a Draenei, lol, I'll admit, but I just made her so I could get an Alliance cooking recipe for Synthetik (Synth: 80 Undead Warlock)

Ah, nothing wrong with that. I've had to take a little break from it, but I'll be back on in time for Cataclysm I'm still a Horde girl at heart, regardless Azeroth is my virtual home (and EF too, lol).

What did you play?

Synthetik and I, our mains, are Forsaken Undead, he a Warlock, and I a Mage.

Gosh Now I can say stuff like "My monthly assignment procced" or, "Her Contributer of the Month is on cooldown", and all and at least a couple people will know what I'm talking about!

This is an awesome idea! I know they adopt families for holidays on my campus and even though i am not a member of the churches here, there are a few Student run ones that do this also

I am totally loving this as well. I'm up for donating and think it's awesome that you guys would match .50

I'll have to double check and see who is doing it this year. How many should we do? Should we pick just one? or send you guys all available ones?

I'm in charge of a very similar project at my church, and have been for several years, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to give me a shout. That is, any questions that don't involve actually being in charge of anything -- I'm spread very very thin timewise already, as far as holiday things go.

I am down for all the ideas posted here. Missed this as well.. had issues with my phone.

As far as contributor of the month and all that goes, I feel like things should be done that help others stand out in the community besides the normal people that usually get the awards. I was just talking to another member on trying to promote more awareness of the rumbles to people, because it is really hard to get nominated. I mostly see the same people nomming, the same people getting nommed, and a lot of the same people winning. if i remember correctly sammi actually gave her prize away a couple weeks ago.

I know I personally get discouraged at seeing all the same people go up. I know that e veryone works hard to get their reviews out, but I feel like there are a lot mroe people who could use some recognition once in a while too.

As far as for the donating for Xmas and the edenpoints things, I am all for those! Will be reading through this thread more when I get home to night to catch up.

Dammit. I am the fourth fail in a row

This is after the fact, but I, too, like the ideas that were discussed. I'm down with converting EP into money into love for families in need

I showed up late again too. But this time I just had to take care of my mom since she was sick today. So I'm catching up on the info now!

If anyone can knit or crochet they could also donate that way. knit up some scarves and mitts and mail them off to the closest ambassador

I the Adopt-a-Family idea. Too many more people are going without nowadays because of the recession. And the poorer you were before the economic decline, the even worse you're doing now. We're all feeling it. But even now that I've lost so much in my life, I do still have family, a roof over my head, and food in my kitchen. *sniffly*

I really want to be a part of this project. I'm not sure I can do all of it on my lonesome for my community though. Maybe I'm just too shy or something. But if I can find someone else anywhere in my state, we could be an ambassador team to whatever local organization will partner with us to make this happen. And I really love the added detail of the ambassador(s) updating the community on their progress and maybe even about the family that will helped.

And I agree with cherryredhead88 about the review rumbles. I was here for weeks before I found out about them or how they worked. Let's start with the mentors and spread the word about how there's more to reviews than just submitted them to be published and they continue to have life even when you're done writing them!

I knew when I was dumped and kicked out that this place was more than an online sex shop. This is the best community I know. I love all yall. What a great job, everyone. And some even greater ideas. Let's make them more than ideas!

I agree 100% with you, which is why I made sure to bring up this bit:

* * *

"Okay

Honestly, I was thinking on it, maybe there should be a sort of, I don't know, 3 or 6 month cooldown* on a person who wins Contributor of the Month. That way there aren't the same people winning it over and over.

(*Cooldown: The term cooldown is defined as a period of wait time before a spell, ability, or item power can be used after a prior one in WoW terminology. In this case, it'd be a sort of waiting time before the person who won could be nominated again. It was the only word I could think of to describe it, lol)"

* * *
So don't worry I made sure to suggest it

And I think that this is the main points of the Contributer of the Month thing in a nutshell by Victoria:

"Cool, so Monthly contest, private noms, public voting, no one can win more than once a year - then we do a big Contrib of the year in December 2011. Cool!"

* * *

And honestly, I think I'd like to see a longer "Cooldown time" for the Weekly Rumble winners. I didn't think to bring that up, but maybe they would have to wait at least a month before they can have a chance at winning again. That way it's not the same couple people winning over and over and some other people can have a chance

It's at least something good to suggest for the next meeting. Gives us all a chance to at least throw around the idea and see what others think of it.

The next one isn't until the 4th of Nov though, huh? I'll be trying even harder to make the next one!

Yep, November 4th is the next one I'll do my best to remember that so I can bring it up and make sure I'm able to be on for it (or at least send the idea via PM to Gary or Victoria so that they can bring it up in my stead if I'm unable to be on)

Good plan! If not, I will try my best to be here (and on time) for the next one. I even put a reminder on my phone.

Maybe - instead of categories... you could list this on your nominations. And if a nominee wins they also get that tag.
I agree, not sure how much work it would be for an extra ribbon or something on our profiles? Like how the mentors have the number of students in a little ribbon on their wall?

I totally, agree. Especially if its monthly. If there can only be 12 people a year, its not fair to have people win more than once.
Or if you decide on bi weekly it could open up the chances for just a couple more people! But I think we should go bi weekly only if the monthly gets too overwhelming.

I am willing to help out any way I can as well!

Oh I love the idea of an icon on the profile of the Contributor of the Month/Year! And I think it shouldn't just be a short, temporary ribbon either. Good idea, cherryredhead88!

Well, first we need people to volunteer. Then those volunteers look for "Adopt a family" agencies in your area. You tell us about the agencies, and we make sure it's all legitimate.

We send check or Paypal to the community reps. ... more
I volunteer! I am very resourceful, and I know how to find all that info out! Only thing I am wondering is about discreetness, I don't really want to go to my people and say, "Hey! My Sex Toy Community is funding me to adopt a family!"

Haven't gotten past this post yet, but just wondering!
