Something else to consider, is that people organizing this, having access to the noms, probably should be excluded from nomination to avoid conflict of interest, or at least the appearance.
All the noms would go privately to Gary and then he would set it up, so I don't think that'll really be a big deal

Except if the CEC committee is doing the final vote.

Well what if after some one hits the nominate button a box was to come up and ask why they thought that person should be nominated. So that way its easy, but still allowing for people to explain things....

I feel the same way - because it's not public, no one should really be disqualified.

The community would have the final vote, CEC just gives the noms

I would say it should be required.

That was why I suggested that the nominations be privately sent to Gary by the CEC but the voting be done in the forums, rumble-style, open to the entire community.

That would also require a lot of trust. Allowing EVERYONE to have access to the upload account also allows them to be able to delete anything they wanted too. They could also see previous ones and then it won't be a surprise?
what if they just submitted it to some one (say some one one the commitee) and that person be allowed to uplaod it. That lets every one have a say in whats uploaded but also puts a limit on who can upload it...

This is great in theory. Site changes, even small ones take time though. Wish neurongeek was here to give a possible or not possible input.

Exactly, either way the CEC is involved in the noms or final vote. Either way, technically it's a conflict of interest and should bow out of eligibility. That will prevent any discussion of favoritism or conspiracy theories.

You can't really nominate yourself, and the CEC only gives nominations and gets to vote as part of the community too, it's no different than the weekly rumble, except that nominations get emailed to Gary rather than posted in a thread

I agree....it might seem like just a button, but from an IT perspective, to put that together, test it, and work out any bugs could take months. And the EF I.T. staff has enough on their plates with Eden Points, product additions, everyday glitches, etc...I don't think this would make it to the forefront of importance for a while.

I was thinking an email that anyone can email submissions to. Members from this committee who want to help out would coordinate which month (or week or however often we decide to do this) they would be responsible for. Those would have access to the email and the coordinating adult upload account so they could upload and post in a forum for each time we do this.

That's basically what she's saying. They'd email it to the email address and then whoever had access would upload all the submissions and then post them in a forum post, after whatever set amount of time it was. One week, two weeks, monthly...

Yep I agree. It's only one person. One person can't cause an entire community to vote for them since the actual vote will be open to the whole community and not just the committee.

I thought a select CEC committee was either making the noms or choosing the winner? If all parts of the process are open to the entire community, then that's fine.

Wouldnt that be nice? Still it would take some time to develop.

If you need any extra hands, I think this is a great idea and I would definitely be down for helping out

The whole community is welcome to be a part of the CEC, so technically, it is open to the entire community

Maybe start off monthly and if that first mont there ends up with way too many submissions that take forever to upload maybe we can change it for the next month to being bi-weekly?

Bi-weekly if it can be handled, or monthly until submissions pick up and it's too much to post only once a month. You could do a once a week thing too in theory if there were enough submissions.

Plus we wouldn't want them to put all the effort in and people not like the idea or it be a flop. We are in the testing stage
