Did You Ever Forget Those Special Days?

Contributor: Chilipepper Chilipepper
As I'm going through the process of divorce and yet another b-day coming up, I'm remembering one of the things that annoyed me to no end about my ex-husband was his bad memory for dates. Specifically, my birthday. In the 10+ years we had been together, he kept thinking my b-day was in June (it's July) and he's ALWAYS get the day wrong. I've never forgotten his - whenever I see the date I automatically think 'That's his birthday.'

So, folks, have you or your sig other forgotten a birthday or anniversary? If so, how did you/they make it up?

My soon-to-be ex-husband (been separated a year and a half, just yet to file paperwork) made the same mistake with me. My bday is July 30th and he constantly thought, and told other peope, that it was June 30th. He also proposed to me in the wee hours of February 14th not knowing it was Valentine's day if that counts.

Mine's pretty good fortunately. And I think my last boyfriend only remembered my birthday because it's 3 weeks to the day after Christmas, lol

I remember Cyn's bday because it's on one of the few non-special days in Oct. (My family is Oct. heavy).

Our anniversary is easy to remember; it's one month after Xmas eve and six days after MLK day (which is also a special date of ours).

For some reason, I also remember the anniversary date of my first relationship, probably because it was my first.

My husband and I Never remember special dates. We have been together for 11 years and in all that time I think we each have remebered birhtday/anniversary a handful of times. To give him credit, he is usually the one that remembers we missed something. I think we are unique in this though since when people find out we both get chastised. I don't think it's a problem, we love eachother and can always make it up to one another which is fun

We're both good about it - we never forget. Except for the dogs' birthdays, which annoys our kids to no end

I always forget what date my then-partner and I become official. It's always a whirlwind, and the official date is always an approximation. Like, my current partner's and my official anniversary is April 2, but neither of us is sure if that's the "real" date or not.

I have always been bad at remembering dates (not to mention names), but luckily neither my boyfriend nor I care. We have no idea when our anniversary is, since our relationship developed gradually and there was no specific day in which it officially started.

We usually only find out about holidays because the Google logo changes XD

After 20 years WE still forget some date's. Mostly anniversary and the dogs B-day's
When we got married we picked July 8th, thinking that we could remember four days after the fourth... wrong.

HA! This post helped me remember before her. ~Gold star by my name~

We're pretty good about birthdays and anniversaries. Although, my husband needs to be reminded about other holidays occasionally.

My birthday is hard for a lot of people to remember, but thanks to Facebook, I get lots of b-day wishes now

It's very hard to forget my man's birthday. He was born on April 20. Yup. 4/20/. At precisely 4:20 AM. Very hard to forget that birthday.

My husband always wrecks his brain when it's close to me and my daughter's birthdays. Mine is Jan 12th (1/12) and my daughter is Dec 1st (12/1). Luckily he'll get it right when those days approach!

I have a friend with the same birthday as your boyfriend's and she's a teacher and for whatever reason the other teachers seemed really surprised when she said that she doesn't tell the students when her birthday is, lol

chili, I'm sorry you're going through such a rough time. I hope it gets better soon.

I do have a funny story, though. I actually forgot our Anniversary. One night, My Man is starting to go out, kind of late (for us, it was about 9:00 PM) he was acting kind of weird, and like he was mad at me. The smallest child was asking him, "What's wrong, Daddy?" he gives me a look and says, "I have to get something. Ask your Mama." I'm sitting there thinking, "WTF did I do now? What did I forget?" Just as he's going out the door, I ran to the calendar and he starts to laugh, and I realized that the next day was our Anniversary. I ran out the next morning and got him a card and some tools or a flannel shirt or something.

I'm the chick and I'm the one who forgets things like this. Is it because Aquarius's are not really sentimental? I don't even KNOW the "anniversary" of our first date, and we've never celebrated that, either, or any other "anniversary" except for our legal wedding.

My Man never forgets anything.....

Astrologically understandable. I bet you're considered the problem solver though.

Is that a real holiday? Day of the Ninja sounds like the coolest holiday of all time!

I thought Pirate Day was the 9th of September?

My fiance was going to propose on that day, complete with accent and everything...

Hahahaha, I KNOW I am, but he is in Engineering and although he can solve a mechanical, carpentry, chemical or electrical problem like nobody I know, I'm better at real life issues. He, on the other hand, has a lot of masculine, or let's be realistic, he's a chauvinist and thinks all women, even me, are "illogical." Despite evidence to the contrary. (Even though he tells people I'm the most intelligent women he knows. Go figure.)

It's interesting, I'll give you that.
