Do you think Internet Porn has peaked and will thus decline?

I met the neatest guy, by accident, at a business meeting. We got to talking and he was remarkably open about his past. He is a VERY successful on-line adventurous and business owner.

He admitted that years ago...at the START of Internet Sales, he used to sell "8mm tapes from Swedish Erotica" from the UK. He also had a TINY side business selling some hunting goods online in the USA.

Years later he is rich from running some HUGE online sales of hunting and fishing gear, but decades ago, left the "porn" business, since, he claimed, there were "too many fish in that pond, no real profit margin and it was going to "shake out" so a few big players remained and everyone else, not a niche, was going to go broke".

He now thinks the "NOVELTY" of porn online has run it's course and while there is still a LOT of it, he is not sure it will remain the number 1 money maker, as MOST traditional business....everything from electronics to groceries, moves online. He thinks that like with the Poloroid, where probably MOST were for "personal photos" early on, it soon became an overwhelming "main stream" thing.

What do YOU think? Has "internet porn" run its "hot phase" out, and now, with all the FREE stuff, and DVD's available from places like EF, do you think that formerly HUGE segment of the Internet will slowly wither?

I GUESS I should have added "IT MAY CONTINUE to GROW as more tablets and personal internet devices get used" as a possible answer. I cannot add it now.

ALSO....sorry....I thought I was in the SOCIAL category. NOT Holidays..my goof up!!! So...I guess this applies if you are thinking about buying some Internet porn for your holiday shopping list????

Yes, I think as a business, it has hit it's peak and will dwindle as time goes on.

I think it may end up getting regulated away.

Short of some kind of morality revival - porn will thrive. A combination of curiosity and anonymous pleasures will keep it going more-or-less forever.

I think the pay-sites are getting more competitive. For free porn though, that's WIDE open!

Tumblr has become one of my favorite places to go.

no, but I think we may see a gradual decline of interest in paid porn. With free porn all over the web, people almost anywhere can find their niche and not pay a pretty penny. I don't think we'll completely get rid of the pros though, because some of us don't want to watch inexperienced individuals get fucked all the time.

I do think free internet porn is on the rise, and that's not going anywhere unless we create something even more convenient. As long as people exist, they will 1. enjoy sex and watching sex and 2. enjoy free stuff

I don't foresee much change as far as porn online declining. I'd like more options, though. My computer is not set up in such a way that watching porn at the computer desk is enjoyable. I'd love a porn Netflix or something.(Skinflix? Hehe)

Top internet market, maybe not, but a major presence on the internet, definitely.

I prefer my porn free and fan, though-- as someone who prefers written over visual, the quality is MUCH higher this side of the pond.

I don't really see it decreasing in amount, but I can totally believe that it's become less profitable as a business.

It's here to stay...would be IMPOSSIBLE to get all of the sites eliminated.

Porn use is never going to go down. However, porn for pay? Oh yes. There are free sites with tons of content out there, so there's less of a reason to pay for a subscription.

WOW...that is an interesting observation. I thought the INTERNET was world-wide so everything would be uniform throughout the world (unless a specific government blocked it)????

As long as people continue having sex and are sexual beings, there will be porn. For everyone who gets tired of watching porn, there are those who need to sneak it and hide it from partners or parents(I know it is illegal, but kids do see it i am sure!), newcomers to porn and those of us who just really enjoy watching porn and amateur porn. I do think amateur porn is going to grow, pay porn might level off and free porn will expand.

Agreed, I don't think it will ever going to go away in some capacity or another.

I don't think porn is that huge on the internet, to begin with, for it to suffer a massive decline. Roughly 5% of the internet is made up of porn-related sites.

I do not know if you will be falsifying any medical/legal information in the process, if so, no. Furthermore, her sister is right, if she is underage, then it is illegal. We cannot recommend or encourage any illegal activities at EF.

I think at a certain point people will learn to use internet porn for a different kind of profit.
