Finding a costume hell

Contributor: Jobthingy Jobthingy
We went to a bunch of different places today to try and find a decently priced cheerleader costume and do you think we could?

No.

We found one really cute one but it was 80$! We want to do dead cheerleader and football player so I dont want to drop that much on a costume to ruin it. The fake blood will stain, I would have to dirty it up a bit.

Times like this I wish I could sew.

I suggested dead Ref and football player (I saw a ref costume for 25$) but that idea got a unanimous 'meh' from friends and the old man

I have hit kijiji and usedottawa. We even hit a thrift store.

*sigh*

I just wanted to rant.

Not even any online stores??

I don't want to spend a lot on my costume either, I wouldn't dress up at all but we're going to a costume party. A friend and I are going to head to a costume store tomorrow for ideas, but I'm thinking everything will be insanely over priced there.

I have checked some online places and they are rather pricey also, or decently priced and the shipping is ridiculous.

Look on ebay or, even, just get different pieces to put together. You can easily make anything a costume if you manipulate it enough.

Good luck

Thrift stores - you can always find a pleated skirt and match a top to it, maybe even iron-on letters for a school name.

If you are going to do a bloody cheerleader, and get the costume all dirty I would stop looking for an actual costume.

I would just go find a cheap plaid skirt and white stockings, and buy a white button up. That way you'll end up spending MUCH less. There are costumes on here, but it would be a shame to ruin them.

I've also found costumes a pain to find for the price I want to pay. Hope you can find something online or at another thrift store =)

I have a pleated plaid skirt here. Also a corduroy pink one and another that is brown. I was thinking about that and just a T with felt lettering.

We were at one thrift store today but it was a little crazy in there and we were going mental trying to fight people to the racks.

I am going to go to one in the middle of the afternoon this week when I have a short day.

And thanks for all the ideas and just listening to me bitch.

Much appreciated.

Have I mentioned how much I love this place?

*huge hugs*

I agree with the thrift stores... find some old stuff and go crazy with teh imagination and a hot glue gun.

We're lucky because my partner is great at sewing so she can whip up pretty much any costume in a few days.
