I have been, went to the police about it and everything. I was being bullied by the friend of a former friend. The person I knew directly wasn't doing any of the bullying themselves and therefore there really wasn't anything that could be done. The person they "contracted" to bully me didn't stop until they realized that it was just as easy for me to find information on them on the internet as it was for them to get mine from the person I knew, and would harass me a few times a week, nothing but swears and insults since they were a very eloquent teenager, and it wasn't until I told them that I knew they were a parent and should know to act more mature that they finally stopped. I think it freaked them out a bit that I knew their child's name and I didn't even have to do much searching to find it.

I was a moderator on an other site some years ago. There was an ongoing problem with people harassing others, and the moderators had to deal with stuff. I had to ban this guy several times, for threatening other people.
He came back again and again, using hidden ISP numbers etc. He posted that he was going to kill me and rape me and several of the other mods as well as the owner of the site. This guy started his own site, with the purpose of threatening people on our site and the server company shut it down for breaking all kinds of rules. (You can't start an internet board with the purpose of talking about raping and killing people, evidently.)
Through using the FBI (because his threats were so specific and graphic) and ISP traces, the owner found out who he was, and at last contact, charges were pending. He tried to get out of it by supposedly joining the Army, but my guess is he really didn't.
There are some scary people out there.

Luckily no... but yes there are some very disturbed people out there that like to try and harass and hurt people through the use of the net.

I have been on boards and witnessed the odd cattiness but that is about it.

My friend got internet bullied by a guy who pretended to be a young high school guy interested in her. Basically he was about 50 and just creeping on her and several other girls by pretending to be his son, but before she found out their relationship went really far. He got her to send him naked pictures and things. When she found out she was really upset and tried to press charges, but nothing went very far.

Never been bullied online- or if I have it wasn't significant enough to be worth remembering. Kids talk tough from behind the safety of a computer screen. I tend to shrug shit like that off because I'm not a very small guy and I'm completely okay with the use of violence. 9 times out of 10 if I run into whoever in the street they'll fall down pretty quick.
It comes down to, sure you can spam meaningless insults at me online. But if I make you cry like a little bitch in front of your friends/girlfriend- I still win.
