Not this year...thank goodness. The past 8 years we have been in NC and TN while my family was in Cali...we came home, so no big travel plans.

My brother lives about 35 or 45 miles away, but it seems so much farther just to go only for the evening, like on Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas. We can't get his wife to go anywhere without her Mommy, so he has stopped coming to our house on Christmas,(even though I invited her Mommy, my house is "too far" for her Mommy. So they don't come here. So we only go to HIS house, with the wife with the Mommy Issues. She's a nice girl (and I mean girl, despite being 36 years old, she doesn't strike me as a woman yet.)but I think he is going to tire of her Mommy's constant presence. When we were there for Thanksgiving, her Mommy had stayed the night before (despite only living about 15 miles away) and his wife was trying to talk her into staying an other night. They see each other nearly every day, and......it's just weird. It's my brother's 3rd marriage, so what are his chances, anyway?

I love seeing my brother and my niece and nephews, but it sucks always being the ones who have to travel on the Holidays. And we have Christmas here and used to just hang out on the day after Christmas, now we have to go on a 70-90 mile round trip and it's exhausting.

1100 miles one way. I can do it in a day and a half with the kids and dogs.
We thought they could just drive here.

Nice! My trip is 673 each way and I'll be doing that in a day, but on my own is different than kids and dogs! It's totally worth it though, it will be WARM where I'm going. Or at least warmer!

I love to drive! It reminds me of the good ol days growing up. I used to ride in the waaay back of a VW bug haha. Dad always drove strait through from Colorado to The U.P. Michigan, Back then it was about 28 hours on the road. I can do it in about 19 know, If I am by myself.

Funny though, the weather is the same.

I enjoy it too. I used to drive to Memphis every year for a music festival and that was 17 hours, but we'd stop at the 14-ish hour point around Nashville. I'm excited about this trip tough, I'm going to go through South of the Border for the first time ever and I'm going from northern NJ to coastal S.C. so it will be at least 20 degrees warmer!

Road trips are totally different in states like MI and FL. You have to drive out of a peninsula to get to the rest of the country. It just seems different to me, at least.

For Christmas I am only going as far as the living room and dining room

I am thinking about taking a new year's or valentine's day trip back to where I used to live, which is 250 miles away.

Ya know, I really don't know. we're going to my parents. which is about 500 miles. BUT we might be moving at that time too, so for all I know we'll have to move before christmas (i'm hoping for slightly after) And if that's the case we won't be going anywhere for christmas. If that's the case we'll go about 120 miles to my IL's before moving, and then head on to my parents before heading to our new home... we'll see!

I'm driving 30 seconds down the road to my mums place. Then I'm driving about 25 minutes to get to my "other" family. I'm also taking my transexual friend who I'm this close to dating with me. Hoping the drive will be worth while and that no one will make her feel awkward.
