I had to check the turkey and pulled the rack out a bit--the bird was so seriously juicy that some of it sloshed over and hit the oven element. There went my eyebrows, bangs and eyelash tips. I got the fire out before my hubby got to me by smacking myself in the face with the oven mitt. Had a new do that year!!!

I'm somewhat grateful of my "I Never Cook When I Can Get Out of It" mother when she attempts to take over the kitchen and cook the dinner (I usually end up doing most of it with her "backseat cooking"); it's a lot better than what she went through with her own mother, who attempted suicide at every Thanksgiving or Christmas ...
