As a human race are we alone?

I agree with Starkiller. Though the idea of aliens, like the big slimy monster kind frighten me big time. :]

LOL! Great, now this little image is going to pop up at odd times to make me laugh.

There are other sentient beings in the universe, it's pretty evident throughout history but most agencies (such as governments) conceal such information as it could open way too many cans of worms, or widespread _____.

On a side note, if we answer to the title of the post, the poll should be "Yes, we are alone - there are no aliens"
and
"No, we are not alone - there are aliens"

As a sci-fi nerd, particularly a lover of Doctor Who (a Time Lord alien), I do believe there's other life out there.

I feel like the most logical answer is "there could be, but we currently do not know".

I'd be open to being convinced by something, but I haven't seen anything that has really swayed me so far, but I keep an open mind.

I doubt that even if they were out there, we would ever meet them. Logistically, I imagine the best we could hope for was a small artefact sent a very, very long time ago - but we would probably mistake it for something else and not even realise.

You have proof of this, I presume?

I think there is definitely the possibility of life elsewhere; the universe is too huge, and while we seem like a statistical rarity, I doubt we're the only life-supporting planet out there.
They're probably not your typical little grey men or anything, though. If anything, I would imagine them to have characteristics similar to that which we could call an animal (though an animal on another planet would be vastly different from ours). I doubt the complete humanoid would always win the evolutionary battle.

That being said, shows like Ancient Aliens make me a little skeptical at times. My friend loves it and I find some of the stuff it features interesting, but they make the most unlikely connections sometimes.

I believe there is probably intelligent life elsewhere, but I don't believe they come to earth in UFOs. Any spacecraft large enough to support interstellar travel would be unmistakeable. I just can't buy the conspiracy theories.

I do believe there is life somewhere else in this universe. I don't have any sort of proof or scientific theory. But, when you think about there being billions and billions of stars out there, some or all of which have a few little planets orbiting around them, where would the fun be if we are the only ones who managed to get that 1 in a billion chance of supporting life?

I think there is life somewhere out there because the curious explorer in me can't stand the thought of there being nothing new to discover.

That being said, I think it's a snowball's chance in hell that they've managed to find and visit us. There is enough science out there to disprove the conspiracy theories. Perhaps not at thoroughly as the science debunking the moon-landing conspiracy, but to the point that I don't feel the alien cover-up conspiracy theories hold any weight at all.

As of a month ago, we may not be. They found a planet that has the right conditions to have water on the surface.

To believe we're the only planet in the universe to produce life is egotistical.

There are millions of alien races in our universe. It's so freaking huge, lol. Anyone who thinks all of this can exist with only one spec of life must be mad.

There's gotta be something else out there. There's no way we're all alone in the universe, it's way too big.

There are probably aliens out there, but I don't know if any of them would be sapient or capable of traveling through space to find us. I definitely don't think the government is covering up any alien activity. There are government conspiracies, sure, but they're much more mundane than that and plenty of them get discovered and aired to the public.

I definitely think aliens exist. Universe is too big for other intelligent life to not be out there.
