Do you attend midnight premieres of movies?

Contributor: Cowgirl-Cutie Cowgirl-Cutie
Well, do you? I did it all the time before I became a mom. Now I really have to pick and choose since I'm out so late and hubby definitely has to be home.

I usually do for movies like Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and I definitely did for Harry Potter!!

I have done it with a few movies..not many..because it is miserable. Realized I would rather wait and have an empty theater than a crowded freak show of people munching and crunching and carrying on.

Years ago I did, I went to a couple of midnight premieres. But now that I'm in my 30's and with a kid, I'm lucky to see the movie in the theater at all, much less on premiere night.

We went to the midnight showings of the Star Wars movies. We don't do it very often but for special movies that we really want to see.

I like my sleep. And I prefer less-crowded theatres so it wouldn't be so noisy. My boyfriend and his friends went to the midnight showing of "The Hobbit" last month - they were also high on pot, so the pre-movie commercials weirded them out (something about color-changing dancing horses). And since it was a Thursday night, they didn't get out until almost four in the morning, and they were practically zombies the next day at their jobs. Just ... doesn't sound worth it, to me.

Same here but I haven't gone in years. Nothing special came out I guess.

I've done it once or twice, but honestly I wouldn't do it again. You pay $10 or $11 to see a movie that you can't even watch because everyone there is so excited that they're screaming and talking. The theater is too crowded and noisy for me to enjoy the movie, and that doesn't seem like fun especially if I've been waiting a long time to see the movie.
What I like to do is see them early the next morning. You pay less because it's a matinee and the theater is usually pretty empty!

I HATE lots of people in theatres. Even if I've been waiting for a movie for YEARS I will wait and extra week or three for the crowds to die down.

We hardly go to the cinema at all let alone to a midnight screening.

I feel old admitting this, but I'm past the point where I can go to a midnight premiere, stay awake, and enjoy the film. My responsible adult side (I hate her) nags me about the post-movie hangover that will occur the next day. I'd rather wait a day and enjoy the film guilt and snore free!

Some of the posts reminded me that when we saw the last Harry Potter movie we had bought tickets for a week long marathon. The last night we were able to sit in a comfy theater that wasn't as crazy crowded as the others instead of waiting in line like others.

But this one old man who really could have been Dumbledore kept falling asleep all week and snoring. It was so comical and the people beside him kept having to wake him up.
