It's the only sitcom I've ever watched regularly. It's not that often you get get a show where half the jokes are about physics. And they remind me of a few of my friends. Sheldon is my favorite.

*knock knock knock* Penny. Penny. Penny. Penny. Penny.

I heard a great interview on npr a while back where they were interviewing the actor who plays sheldon. He's apparently mostly a theatrical actor and has basically nothing in common with the character. It was really amusing to listen to him explain what goes into learning about crap like how to play d&d. Plus there was an interesting bit on whether his character *has* / *is supposed to have* asperger syndrom.

watching it now actually. The original title was "Lenny Penny and Kenny." that would not have worked.

It really, really bothers me how every single woman in that show (including people's mothers) are treated as sex objects. Also, I know a lot of people who are similarly nerdy, and they really aren't enjoyable to hang out with.

Mindless cute entertainment. Pleasant change from a lot of what is out there now. (NOT mindless writing, mind you, but a show I can watch without having to CONCENTRATE and can still get a laugh). Love it.

I love this show. My youngest daughter has Asperger's and a very high IQ and she does the knocking thing; "Mama?" knock knock knock "Mama?" Knock knock knock "Mama?" knock knock knock "Mama? knock knock knock.

She did it before we ever saw the show.

My husband is an engineer so we can totally relate to people on this show. It's so funny and although exaggerated, a lot of the way the characters act is true for people who work in Technology and Science jobs.

Our middle daughter and I were watching the show some time ago for the first time (she's a blond) and she says, "This is totally unrealistic. Why would a hot blond hang out with all those nerdy science dudes." ALL my daughters friends work in IT, Technology, Engineering and other science. I said, "Are you kidding, it's a show about you and your friends." She looked and me and said, "Really? Who is the hot blond?" *blink blink* HONESTLY, this happened. Honey, if you need to ask.... I nearly screamed, "You!"

(FTR, she is intelligent (and in Grad School) but really ditzy.)
