Canceled TV Shows

Contributor: lamira lamira
What TV shows do you believe either ended prematurely (a new show) or should have continued with more seasons (a veteran show)?
I am curious, because it seems as though I will finally discover a show that I instantly fall in love with and after a season or two of watching the show, it is canceled. I am wondering if this unfortunate situation has happened to you also.

Firefly. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Dark Angel. The Lone Gunmen. Dollhouse. Drive.

Hmmm, there seems to be a theme to my list. FOX sucks.

Dollhouse ending made me so, so sad.
I've only been watching any shows for about a year now so honestly I don't have much more input. Dollhouse was one of the first things I watched.

Well really, how can you not love a show where leather-clad dominatrixes fight battles using magical dildos?

I remember all these shows from when I was a kid, but can't remember the title!

Like the show about a bounty hunter, think it was on TNN or TNT or USA, I don't remember it much.

Also a Show about... well its a game show, Legends of something something. It was were these kids would go through obstical courses. Had teams called the Barracudas the monkeys and something something something. dont remember

All I remember is a movie that was a cartoon "Thats not for kids" that my dad saw me watching and turned it... it was interesting... was about a guy trying to find some ladies sister who was dragged into hell or something, I can't remember. But I've been searching for it for like 16 years...

Definitely wanted more Firefly and Dollhouse I'm glad they were able to wrap up Dollhouse, but there was obviously so much storytelling that they had to sacrifice for the premature ending.

Heroes!

I can't think of any more now...NBC and Fox really dropped the ball though. Did we really need all those King of the Hill episodes?

'The Wizard' starring David Rappaport as a gadgeteer who worked for the government. Ended way too soon ... the cancellation was a suspected reason for his suicide.

'ALF', simply because we were promised a 'To Be Continued' and the station decided to end it with his capture by the ATF. I do not consider the TV movie afterward to be canon.

'To the Manor Born' (BBC). Actually, I know it's tradition for British shows to end a series with a wedding, but I can't help but think of how much more could be done with Richard adjusting to being the true Lord of Grantleigh after he married Audrey, and Audrey directing him the entire way. Not to mention the inevitable pregnancy. Incidentally, I did like the 25th anniversary special.

'Key West' with Fisher Stevens, Meg Tilly, etc. Man, that show was great! By the same people who did 'Northern Exposure'. I guess being from Florida I 'got' a lot of the jokes and weirdness. Ended way too soon. They even did an episode about Hurricane Andrew (yes, the hurricane toga parties are real - my neighbors have them every time).

Additional - A cable channel dying to marketing. The original Sci-Fi Channel, when they played old grade-B movies, old science fiction shows, anime, and geek news shows. Back when it was fun and geeky, like science fiction is supposed to be.

Oh my gawd, that series was such a bastardization of the books. I tried to watch it but it made me cringe because it was so terribly cheesy!

Season 1 of Heroes was amazing, the rest were painful to watch (and yet I still did). Heroes would have been great if they maintained the level of writing, but it quickly became crap.

I still love to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager reruns on cable. I'm a trekkie at heart.

Awesome, thanks so much for the Links

I took a look at Cool World, I don't know if it is it or not, I'll have to take a closer look, what I saw was in color. I was thinking it might have been Vampire Hunter D, but it doesn't fit everything, its close though.

How about "Married with Children!" anyone?

I think Cool World went back and forth between B&W and color, but I could be wrong. It's been many years since I've seen it.
