I use it as background music, and I listen to it, focusing on the lyrics. It just depends what I'm doing, but I usually have to have music on.

Mostly I like to focus on the music, but I do use it as a sort of motivator when I'm working on things like dishes, cleaning, or exercise.
Wherever I am, my music isn't more than an arms length or two away. :3
That's part of the reason I've been looking into a solar charging station for things like mp3 players and cell phones...at least then if we lose power I'll still be able to charge my gadgets. xD

There are times when I really just want to listen closely to music. Driving, especially when I'm in the car alone, can be a really good opportunity to do that. I don't mind music as background, and will put it on while I'm at work or doing other things around the house, but it just doesn't have the same effect. If I'm going to be listening to new music especially, or something that deserves attention, it needs to be the main focus of what I'm doing.

A lot of time I'll have it on while I do something else, but that doesn't mean I'm not getting into it! I almost always cook and clean with music playing, kind of dancing around the kitchen and singing,

Well I am into it whether or not I am doing something. I can multi task. I don't like music on just to have noise, I want to get into it and listen to what I like. It helps me focus and improves my mood.

It really depends on what I'm doing. If I'm cleaning or cooking or something like that, I'll pay attention to what I'm listening. If I'm reading or writing, I'll usually have music with lyrics (classical, jazz, etc.) on in the background.

Music is always playing when I am around I listen to it for background and to clean to. If I am in the car there HAS to be music and usually I am singing at the top of my lungs
