Kindle Fire or Nook? also, What is YOUR favorite book??

Contributor: Miss Anonymous Miss Anonymous
Okay, I love reading. I haven't been doing much of it because I hate carrying around books and all, but I'm about to buy an e-reader. I've been going back and forth on the idea of the kindle fire or the nook tablet. I think I'm going to go for the Kindle fire. I love the Amazon prime program they have.

So, I'm asking which would you get, or what do you have? I was thinking of getting BOTH! lol hahahah.
Also, I'm on a goal to read 50 books (maybe more, but my goal is at least 50) by the end of 2012!

I wanted to know what are YOUR favorite books and why? I love reading all types of books. I've been looking into horror books, but I'm open to read ANYTHING. I'd hope to use you guys to grow my list.

I have the Kindle apps for my Iphone and also for my pc. I want to get the Kindle Fire. I hate carrying around books as well. I find it easier on my cell when I am out and about to open the app and read my stories. I like anything by Stephen King, romance and mystery, also sci-fi books.

This won't help you at all probably, but I have the Kobo. Great option of you like small, uncomplicated machines. But I say Kindle Fire for you. Not sure how readily available Kobo's are in the States

I have an old kindle and I love that. If I would quit buying toys I would buy the kindle touch. If you know you want the backlight and all the apps and movies then I would get an affordable tablet and put the kindle and nook apps on it. I played with a fire for an hour or so and I found it slow and frustrating, but I too like the amazon set up and I buy more books from amazon than bn. I have both apps on my iphone. Favorite book series Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Jamie Fraser is my book boyfriend lol!

I have the kindle app too on my cell phone. I'm currently reading virgin blood. It's a free book. It's a pretty good book so far. My screen is just too small, and it annoys me. hahaha
I love stephen king too and Dean Koontz. I'm not HUGE on romance books, but I would read one if it's a good one.

I've seen the Kobo on QVC. I don't know much about it. Is it almost like the Kindle or nook?

I have the Fire and I love it. But depending what you want, I believe the Nook color is now $169. I have watched movies on it just fine, you get a month of prime free with the fire. I upgraded because I used to have the amazon student so I got the prime for 1 year for only $39( I can continue to pay $39 per year for a full four years also). I play Pandora on it, angry birds. There are a ton of free books for the Kindle too.

It is the same premise and there are two version right now, the touch and the colour version called Vox which would be most like the Fire. It really depends on what you want your reader to do. If you want to be able to surf the net as well as read? Then I would suggest Kindle, if you want a very simple reading reading device, check out the Kobo touch. The battery is great and it really is just for reading. It is also smaller and super light. If colour is what you really want, go for the Fire hands down instead of the Vox, it is just a better machine.

Kobo is kind of the underdog in the ereading world. I don't need my ereader to do anything other than let me read on a great screen that is about the same size as a paperback book. I have my phone and computer to play games on.

By the way, my favourite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Wonderful book.

Yea it is to small. That is why when I am home and not busy with work I will pull it up on my pc and read from there. I love Dean Koontz as well. For the romance it really depends on what it is and if it is good. I got some free books from Amazon that is why I like the Kindle as well. I have purchased one book so far. I still have yet to finish it though.
