New Music - Alternative/Rock

Contributor: Ms. N Ms. N
I am looking for suggestions in newer music. I tend towards alternative and rock, not pop. Some of my current favorites are the Decemberists, the White Stripes, Oasis, Modest Mouse, U2 (forever), and Fiona Apple.

Who do you suggest I look into?

You have awesome taste. Hmmm. Fleet Foxes, Florence + the Machine, the Kills (especially their Blood Pressures album), and the Dead Weather.

Hell yes, the Kills and the Dead Weather.

I recommend the Coathangers and the Black Keys. Danger Mouse's new album Rome is pretty good and it features Jack White as well.

Love the new Decemberists stuff. They've never let me down.

Mount Moriah is a lovely young band from around my home town.

I use Spotify to listen to music and LOVE it! I know the service isn't available in Canada quite yet, hope that not an issue. If you can use Spotify, it'll suggest other bands like the ones you like. The best part: You can pick the songs you want to listen to!

Kristi and I are both Modest Mouse fans.

Ever check out Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine?

Cloud Cult, St. Vincent, Cold War Kids, Mumford and Sons, Tv on the Radio, Cake...
I get introduced to a lot of my music through The Current. Great local NPR station in MN that streams free online, and plays everything you listed.

Thank you I have heard of Florence & the Machine, but not the rest. I will check into them.

Oh, that sounds like a great tool for finding new music. Thanks!
