TLC's My Strange Addiction - The Real Doll Episode

Contributor: Jobthingy Jobthingy
First of all, let me tell you that I am a closet TLC junkie. The shows on that channel always suck me in. My Strange Addiction is no exception.

Did anyone else watch last nights episode with the guy that is in love with his real doll and refers to her as his wife?

I am all for if it makes you happy. It blew my mind though that this guy was convinced he has a serious grip on reality and that his friends seem to think it is perfectly ok that his "wife" is a piece of silicone.

It said at the end he ordered another one. I have to wonder if now he will consider himself Poly.

I did. I was really torn on it because on the one hand, this man is calling a silicone doll his wife, and treating her as such. But on the other hand, he made no illusions about it, knowing full well that she was a doll, and would never "come to life" and actually be real. The thing that kept getting me was that he was performing all the duties of a 'healthy' relationship, except the only thing wrong was with the doll instead of a human being.

Has anyone else ever seen these things in real life? I didn't see the TLC Show, but I saw them on Sexcetera or something like that at some point and they looked really decent. Problem is, once I saw one up close, they look really different and much more fake than on tv or the websites. It was really disappointing in an odd way.

Yeah, that's a really interesting story, I watched it also and wow. He doesn't seem delusional or crazy or anything. He just simply loves her.

I had a friend who pulled her hair out. She would randomly have 1 to 2 inch bald patches on her head.

I know! Like, I know the whole thing is pretty weird, but he didn't seem crazy at all except for the fact that he was in love with an inanimate object!

Did anybody catch the episode that came on afterwards? It was a rerun, but it had the lady who ate toilet paper on it.

I saw a preview for the blow dryer lady. Gah, sounds super dangerous.

It would seem he might be an objectum-sexual. Granted, the object in question is human-shaped and anatomically correct, but there are a decent number of people out there who fall in love with objects like the Berlin Wall, the Eiffel Tower, fences, amusement park rides, furniture, etc. Some people even..... ahem..... consummate their love with these objects.

TLC's "Strange Sex" is another interesting show.

Oh! We started watching the one with the blow dryer! I don't think I could sleep with a blow dryer running next to me. I'm ok with the space heater in the corner tho, I know, same difference, but still, lol

heheh, I missed that but I did see the preview, lol... It reminds me of those dudes in Japan who married their anime pillows (snicker).

There has to be something seriously wrong with this person to not want or need a real live human being to satisfy their emotional needs. The impression I get, not having seen the show, is it's great because she can't talk!

???

CARS! I saw one show about a guy who would fornicate with the tail pipe of his Beetle. Used condoms and everything.

Well, at least he was safe. I wonder whether they were ribbed for her (the car's) pleasure?

I don't know, because they showed him having like, legitimate conversations with her.

Wild. But, hey he isn't hurting anyone, right? Rather him talk to something that doesn't talk back than to be out molesting or raping people.

Hahahaha! Good one! I think the part I found to be the hardest to swallow is that he would drive her a very specific distance to 'warm' her up. Wonder how many times he burned his penis before he learned the exact distance to go.

The only time I've heard about an objectum-sexual do something that got him/her in trouble was when a guy was caught having sex with his picnic table by a neighbor, and the police caught him in the act. He wasn't being safe, though, as he was going bareback.

I dont really see anything wrong with it.. I mean its not hurting anyone and it falls under "Safe, Sane, Consensual" in the BDSM/Kink world so ...meh let him love his doll. I find it a bit sad, but if hes happy Im not one to judge.

For real! It was when he said he was going to work, he would see her later, he loves her and "hold down the fort". I was shaking my head the whole show.

That sounds like a disorder called "pica", where people want to eat non-nutritive items. It's actually relatively common. I'm not ashamed to admit, although perhaps I should be, that I used to eat the paper shreds that come out of a spiral-bound notebook when you tear a page out. Fortunately, I've pretty well conquered that habit.
