The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Also,
- Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex by Mary Roach
- More Information Than You Require by John Hodgman

I just finished Ishmael by Daniel Quinn and it really was just as good as everyone had said it would be. Highly recommend it to everyone on the planet.

I'm currently reading Mercedes Lackey, at the suggestion of another contributor

I'm on Exile's Honor, then will read Exile's Valor, and then To Take a Thief.

After I'm done with these three books, I'm going to take a short break from the Valdemar universe and read something else... I haven't decided yet, but likely The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare since my friend has it to loan to me and I don't have to wait to get it from the library!

I'm also really, really looking forward to the (hopefully) final installment of the Inheritance Cycle. I may reread the first 3 to refresh my brain!

Shogun, by James Clavell

Wicked, by Gregory Maguire

Narcissus in Chains, by Laurell K. Hamilton

Six Wives: The Queens of Henry VIII, by David Starkey

Y'see, I get very bored with just one book.
Ooh, I'd love to read Shogun some day.

I just got "A Great Leap Forward: 1930s Depression and U.S. Economic Growth" in the mail yesterday and it's super exciting. I'm also going through Dr. Zhivago, rather slowly (Russian writers take some time to absorb).

Just finished the "Old Man's War" series by John Scalzi. Will be starting "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" this afternoon. I will also be reading a few comic books. And I am looking forward to the final book of the Inheritence cycle and George RR Martin's A Dance with Dragons this summer!

The book is better than the movie. Do you mean the "His Dark Materials"? (Unless they changed the name of the series)

Anyway, I read the first two of those, then stopped about halfway through the third. It started becoming more and more about him pushing his atheistic beliefs rather than the story. It became too much to swallow. I liked the premise of the story as it began but he detoured.... I wonder if it ever got back to the story at hand.... Let me know, will ya?

I changed my reading plan. I'm working on Valor and then will do To Take a Thief, BUT... after I'm done with those, I will work on the Inheritance Cycle, then the Percy Jackson books....

(I got to go book shopping on Mother's Day! )

"Bite Me" by Christopher Moore. His books are hysterical and I love that he has created this little world where characters from his other books have little cameo appearances in the one you are reading.

I read the Stookie Stackhouse series too, actually devoured books 1 through 10, but then when book 11 came out, I just couldn't get into it. I wonder if Harris is getting tired of writing this series and losing her edge, or if I'm just getting bored with the subject.

Right now I'm reading the first book in Stephen King's Dark Tower series and and a book called Which Brings Me to You by two authors I had never heard of...Steve Almond and Julianna Baggott. I really like Almond's writing style so far.

I recently finished Moby Dick (which took me forever since I didn't particularly enjoy it--I just felt obligated to read a leather-bound classic work of literature that I had in my possession) and am now reading Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco.
